Well, you know I watch it... great show. I wish he hadn't shaved... I was down for some Hobo Jack caveman revenge action.

They say there are 2 jaw dropping surprises tonight (first and last 5 minutes of the show).

When do you think they will kill Jack?

I'm pretty sure Keifer is under contract until 2009, so if thats the case I dont think he'll die this season.

Well, he is a producer on the show.
So is that for him to act or for him to be involved ;). Well, they don't have anyone who could be his equivalent replacement. I'd prefer if they kept him. I can susped reality while watching the show :D

I really wish they could elaborate on the time in-between seasons... but it would be imposable to do so and maintain every hour being an hour in one day format. The stuff I want to see would not realistically happen in a day, more like months or years.

For example, last time I would have liked to see more about Jack doing his things while most of the world thought he was dead. See more about how Chloe, and Tony may have helped keep him hidden, or helped him in near misses. This time I would have liked to see more about him in China or more about us trying to free him.

I would love to see the show move beyond the Los Angles limitation, but again things begin to be harder to accomplish with in the 24 hour format.

I guess I would love a 24 companion. Like the Animatrix was for the Matrix.

***

Last nights show (hour 1 & 2) was great, I like the fact that Jack is damaged form the torture he endured by the Chinese. I hope it is not overly melodramatic, yet I do hope they develop it better. Lasting was a bit over the top, him biting the guy… but I guess that is want we want to see in Jack. I hope torture is not too liberally used all season, and I hope they keep pushing the line between innocent Muslims and dumb Americans. I was telling Danyale that I bet the Muslim father was innocent. I believe in RL that for every guilty person there is at lease one other person saying they are innocent, i.e. his son. I was really pleasantly shocked that his son was the real guilty one. That caught me by surprise.

***

I am really happy Talon got me hooked on 24 those few years ago. Danyale and I love it. It is cool when your wife suggests we watch the day one thru day five beginning to end, just in time for the new season to begin.

Great episodes last night, as usual. I thought they'd kill Curtis this year but not this soon.

As I was telling Talon... i think the most unrealistic part of the whole season is how Wayne Palmer became president in 2 years... seemingly out of nowhere. Talon pointed out that they'd never have 2 black presidents in 5 years... not this century at least. But anyhow, I guess they wanted to keep the Palmer family involved...

Maybe they'll kill him off but then he'll come back as a ghost, Obi-Wan style. Wouldn't that be an interesting twist ;)

I don't see anything racist about it... the argument over whether or not there will be a black president is well documented and I thought it was an interesting sidebar and a great testament to the uniqueness of the show when they made Palmer 1 the Pres.

Send those over to the Forum to be debated.

Nobody mentioned this, but I loved the way Jack killed that guy when he was a prisoner of Feyad (or however you sepll it). I think my while was apalled at my cheering

I thought Curtis was going to be shot when they raided the self storage place. I was very shocked when Jack did him in. I don’t think he is coming back, Looked like a neck shot.

Holy crap, I did not expect the bomb to go off so soon. This is going to be a fast paced season.

Also I like how the whole country is under attack. Pretty scary.

Is anybody else feeling a bit lamed out by the whole "family connection" thing?

Yes. But I think I can tolerate it if it makes Jack do some more crazy stuff... like, oh, maybe killing his father, James Cromwell! I love Cromwell and am glad to see him making an appearance on this show. Also I never would've guessed that guy was his brother... that threw me.

In all seriousness, the family thing is over-the-top coincidental, but this show has never tried to fool anyone into thinking it was real... so I can deal. What I have a harder time believing is how Jack's creepy looking brother ended up with such a hot wife!

You might be right! There was something awkward about their introduction. Great theory...

Oh yes, I picked up on that too. Forgot to mention it. Definately going to be Jack's kid. This is turning into a season of "As CTU Turns."

Last night's episode was better than the prior 2 "setup episodes" IMO... and next week looks to be a big one.

SPOILER

The whole Morris thing was predictable but cool nonetheless... and Cromwell turned out to be bad after all... nice twist there. I got creeped out when he killed his son. Oh, and the VP is a bad guy again! Woohoo!

Yeah, I agree with you 100%.

I called the Morris thing as soon as they said they found someone to do the next bomb. I think the second half of the season will be about the VP and the trouble he is about to start.... that guys eyes are too evil to waste. Cromwell going bad was a surprise to me... they had me fooled. I thought he was going to kill the other son, but I thought it would be a misguided attempt to make things right, not a full blown cover-up. Jacks dad must be BAD. It is kind of like when you learned that Vader had boss. The boss/killer of the bad man must be REALLY BAD.

Do you think anything is up with Jacks Nephew? Danyale things he may really be Jacks kid. There is some three way tension there.

See above comments about Jack's nephew.

According to Kiefer they are working on a 24 Movie, that will not have the same time constraints as the series. He indicated that it would give them the freedom to go back into Jack's past and show us what brought him to where he is now.

Talon1977 wrote:

I think the "family connection" thing makes complete sense. More so now that we find out his father is the one who actually has the puppet strings. I only hope they don't kill off his father too. It would be interesting to dig deeper into the whole "shadow government" aspect of this.

I don't think they will do the whole "Jack's nephew is really his son" deal. I think they are intentionally trying to lead us down that thought path though. Can't wait to find out more about the story behind Jack and his sister-in-law though.

I don't think this VP will be evil. They have a habit of making things look like they are going to keep rehashing the same storyline, and then throwing you a curve-ball at the last minute. I bet we will find out that this VP really does have the President's best interest at heart.

Curtis needed to die. The show has a need to continually show that Jack is the biggest bad-ass around. Which generally means building characters up to a high-point and then killing them off. I was really pissed that we never really got to see Tony do some serious field work.

And they have said time and again that 24 is about Jack Bauer, so I don't see them ever killing him off. They would be more likely to have an entire season showing him as a Shoe-shiner than to have a season without him at all.

What has everyone thought of the recent episodes? I thought the 4 weeks prior to this one were quite boring, but it will be interesting to see how the Jack-Chang thing works out...

It will be interesting to see how that new, evil VP, will be brought down as well.

It's funny, every time Jack says he'll kill himself for someone or something you always know he's not going to (b/c that would kill the show), so the suspense is kind of gone.

Random question: Did Charles Logan die? I know he was critical when his ex-wife stabbed him but I wasn't paying attention or something and didn't notice if he died or not.
