Avian Gamers Network

I have looking through Elite clones for quite some time now and I think I may have found what I want.
A free single-/multiplayer game that got some cool additions to speedy travel in system, hindered by gravitational bodies.

I skimmed the wiki page and it seems like Freelancer clone. Am I crazy? Anyone know what sort of differences there are between the two games?

I loved Freelancer, so if it's basically an updated version, I can dig it. It woud be cool to have an avian server of this or Freelancer that we could all connect to.
