Ok, it turns out that the 9600 series drivers is NOT supported by SWG (go figure).

The Customer service dude for SOE said to Dload the old driver set (3.6) to use instead of the new driver set (3.8) that was installed on my system.

Well I still get game freezes and I wonder if I took my old driver off correctly or not.
How do I check for any video driver on my system? I'm running XP home.

Thanks

It may vary from vendor to vendor, but Start>Control Panel>Add or Remove Program Files should be the most certain way to remove all traces of a particular driverset.

The other alternative is to search your registry. ATI (this is an ATI board and drivers we're talking about, right?) is usually pretty good about posting information such as driver removal on their website.

hmm, well I have tried the SWG approaed driver (3.6 series) and the most recent ATI driver (3.8) and the one I had on the install CD (3.7) and I still get screen freezing.

I heard a rumor the 3.4 works.
I might just find out how much a 9800 ATI is and buy that.

...the easy solution is to just install my 7000 back in, but I just can't imagine going back now. This card is SOOOO beautiful.

I have a radeon 9600 pro and it works like a dream for me. Had some problems with freezing the first month, but after a friend of mine (comp geek :D ) flashed my mainboard and updated some stuff I have never had any problems.

I think he downloaded the newest ati driver available (late august) and customised my mainboard. Have no idea what he actually did though....

Im just a noob with a keyboard 8)

I had the same problem...... for my 8500 I had to get:

    wxp-w2k-radeon-7-84-030228a1-008040c-efg

That solved everything for me.
