If this sounds like something you might be interested in doing, or helping out with, e-mail me at elseplace@mac.com.

Our Mission Statement November 14th, 2003

Have you ever tried to teach yourself something? Whether it be an introductory subject like HTML, or a more advanced language like PHP or C++. You buy a good book, it comes very highly recomended, and then you sit there, staring at this foreign language wishing someone could give you a little push in the right direction. Well what if you had someone there with you to push you in the right direction? What if you had a buddy, who is trying to learn the same thing you are. Together you'd have that much more of a chance to succeed and not add that book to a stack of books you'd bought and never quite managed to get through.

Well, our goal is to make sure this book doesn't end up on that shelf. Whether you want to become better at Photoshop, or become a master PHP Programmer, it wouldn't hurt to have a friend there keeping your eyes on the prize. We'd all be better at what we do if we could learn these languages, we all have something we'd make if we only knew how. Developer.DigitalDifference.net is here to help you find that person to make your learning experience a success.

Post-Presidency I'd like to learn how to do Php so I can help Ol' man Obbo around here.

Not sure how this program works though. Do I just email you and you will help me with it or what?

PHP is a great language, I started playing around with it as a hobby a little over a year ago and I have become quite good at it. I still haven't learned Classes as well as I should but basic PHP - even at the most basic level is really quite fun and rewarding.

...
Here is the first script every book teaches you

Code:
<php>
print 'hello world';
</php>

after that all else is gravy :shock:

You should probably just learn machine code -- it's far more uber.

Machine code? Isn't that binary? Like:

11000101 101 10010110 101011111 10001111

That'd be nuts.

I'm in Comp Sci 302: Intro to Programming and I could use something like this. We're using Java, which isn't so bad, but I'd rather be doing C++. We're on File I/O right now, which I don't get at all. Up until now I've been right on top of it, but expections and file I/O are really stumping me.

The Goal is to have the program be something of a User Group, members have levels of knowledge, and they can offer to help others, or someone else who is coming into a new language can team up with another newcomer to that language and you "buddy up" to help eachother not to give up.

We also have a planning forum setup thus far, and we'll get an official forum setup. We have some really talented people volunteering to Mentor others, so swing by the planning forum at that link above and introduce yourself and talk about what you know, and what you'd like to learn.
