There was just a break-in in a MC store that is located next to my appartment. I heard glass breaking and then the alarm went off. I saw the thief carrying something that looked like a cash register from the shop and then he took off. I saw him jumping on a moped or scooter and ran to get my digital ixus camera. He was 20m from me when I tried to take a photo of his licenseplate but my darn camera refused to take a picture!!!
I clicked and clicked, but to no use......

My roomate called the police after a minute or so, but they was already alerted.

I hate my camera!

Nope. Too hectic. I ran from my room to my balcony to take the picture. Even broke a chair in the process

This reminds me of a story about a guy I know, lets call him Deek. I was never really friends with Deek, we just lived in the same apartment complex. My ex-roommates knew him better much better than I. I guess the story is about being in the right place at the right time.

Deek is a very bad dude. Gangs, drugs, robbery, people trying to kill him at the gas pump, being arrested every few weeks for this or that. I think he was even sued by his own mother, whom he lived with at the time.

Anyway This story begins with Deek trying to spend some stolen money at a Tropical fish store, in the far off city of Lake. As Deek and his girlfriend walked out of the fish store, he sees this other guy running out a near by store with a duffel bag being chased by an elderly man. The elderly man is hollering but no one can understand the old man, and both men are coming Deeks way. As they get closer Deek sees that the duffel man is holding a gun.

As the man with the bag gets near, Deek close-lines the duffel bag man, knocking him to the pavement. Deek pistol whips the robber with his one gun a few times until the robber is knocked out.

Come to find out the old man was the owner of a jewelry store, and the robber had just held the old man up at gun point, and stole a duffel bag full or jewelry.

The cops get there are they are calling Deek a hero. A local politician makes a big deal about it and has a celebration in honor of the ethical improvement in the local youth. (Deek should be behind bars for other things, and he is not even a local youth- he is from out of town) Deek gets put on the front page of the paper, and the Jewelry store owner gives Deek a very expensive watch.

It is weird how things can happen if you are in the right place at the right time.
