Introduction:
This is just a little something fun I thought I'd start doing. Its inspired by one of my favorite movies, High Fidelity. If you haven't seen it, then you're missing out. The jist of this new community builder series is, I'll present a topic, and everyone can chime in with their top five picks of whatever it is. Lets start with an easy one.

Name your TOP FIVE Music Albums.

This is really hard, cause I could probably sit down to write a list 3 times in one day, every day and they'd probably all be different... but here goes. I'll even go an extra mile and put my fave song from the album next to the title:
Weezer - Blue Album - "In The Garage"
Linkin Park - Meteora - "Faint"
    Radiohead - O.K. Computer - "Paranoid Android"
Foo Fighters - The Colour And The Shape - "Everlong"
Rage Against the Machine - Self-titled - "Wake Up"
On a side note, High Fidelity kicks major a**.

1. Roger Waters - Amused To Death
2. R.E.M. - Automatic For The People
3. Nick Cave - Let Love In
4. David Bowie - BBC Radio Theatre, London, June 27, 2000
5. Tom Waits - Small Change

Iobike.

Blues Brothers 2000 soundtrack
Blues Brothers soundtrack
Eric Clapton - Just One Night
Eric Clapton - Rainbow Concert
Micheal Jackson - Bad

Not nessesarily in that order and I'm sure theres some others that would be up there too. I tend to prefer single song rather than albums though, in which case Jackson's Billy Jean I would add in too!

Number Five on Mantison's all time Top 5 album of all time list is:

Metallica - Black

Was dark and heavy, and kicked all kinds of ass at the point in my life when I needed ass kicking music. Perfect.

Number Four on Mantison's all time Top 5 album of all time list is:

Guns n' Roses - Use your Illusion I & II

What can I say, this double set was the biggest thing in music in the mid '90's. It didn't rock any harder than Gn'R....

Number Three on Mantison's all time Top 5 album of all time list is:

Van Halen - 1984

The first album I ever wore out a tape on. This WAS the sound of my youth.

Number Two with a bullet on Mantison's all time Top 5 album of all time list is:

Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness

This double album is the perfect collection of tunes for a road trip. Billy at his best, this was THE double disc set to "space out" to in college.

And number One on Mantison's all time Top 5 album of all time list is, without a doubt:

Pearl Jam - Ten

Without a doubt, THE single most powerful album of my generation. This album, more so than Nirvana's Nevermind in my book, touched off the Alternative movement in mainstream music. Truly artistic and raw, Eddie Vedder's lyrical crooning and the bands powerful rythem makes for, in my opinion, the best album I have ever experienced.

There it is folks, Mantison's Top Five albums. Thanks for listening.

Yea Misfits! Wow, my taste in music is very eclectic so don't go nuts on me.

#5. Atmosphere - Lucy Ford EP
Greatest, most powerful lyricist you will ever hear in hip-hop. If you can even tolerate hip-hop, listen to this album.

#4. Green Day - Dookie
When I was 10 or so, I believe, this came out. The first real music that I liked and loved. Spawned my like for punk (although they're not very punk)

#3. Bob Dylan - Greatest Hits
'Nuf said.

#2. Rolling Stones - Begger's Banquet
Sympathy for the Devil is probably one of the greatest songs ever recorded. My best friend's favorite song as well, who died in a car accident. Kind of a tribute I guess.

#1. NOFX - Punk In Drublic
This is the album that it all comes back to. My cynicism, my political stance, a lot of my humor, my future taste in music, etc. The punk album to end all punk albums.

Emo sucks!!!

j/k

I saw Alkaline 3 years ago...they really had something to be sad about back then lol.

Seems every time you post Exar, I find we have more and more in common. This time it's eclectic music tastes...

Without further adieu, my top 5 albums of all time.

5. U2 - Joshua Tree

4. Pink Floyd - The Wall
(lord almighty, don't tell me this is the first nod they've gotten from you bunch) ;)
EDIT: oops correction.. I see Iobike at least partly respects the Pink.

3. Elvis Presley - Live from Madison Square Garden (1972)

2. The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

And the Greatest Album of All Time....

1. The Very Best of Frank Sinatra

So many Honorable Mentions here ... hard to say. Simon & Garfunkle needs a shout-out. The Beatles alone have at least 3 albums that could take over some spots in the top 10. The Eagles need a nod for "Hell Freezes Over," as well does Bon Jovi and Def Lepard for "Slippery When Wet" and "Pyromania," respectively. James Taylor may even need a pat on the back. Billy Joel or Elton John could creep in the bottom of the top 10 if I was feeling generous. We start naming artists and there's a ton, but if we're talking Greatest Albums, it thins it out some. Especially if we limit compilation albums, then it really starts to thin out.

My answers were my PERSONAL top 5 albums. There is debate as to what the top 5 albums of all time would be depending on diff. standards.

I know I know. Keep in mind it was the first album they ever did which is very different from their last 2 which I found to be horrible.

Barenaked ladies are excellent! http://www.bnlmusic.com/

I strongly recommend Gordon and Maybe You Should Drive, their first two albums.. ..And their live album Rock Spectacle as well, of course.. :)

Heh - my Gordon is a promo version, a first printing with the erroneous blank band across the CD itself (should have been white, they messed up at the printer)..

Hmm - gotta get that Shoe Box EP...

Clapton - Why oh why didn't he include the track 'Circus' on the unplugged DVD or CD? It was played there, I've heard the unplugged version once on Mtv, before the track was released as a studio version. I want the unplugged version!! Grr!

Blues Brothers are great! Did I mention that Iwa/Owoh, Aubai and myself have been on stage with them? 8)
Umm, I think I might have said that before.. ;)

Cheers!
Iobike

I wouldn't put Atmosphere on any of my lists, though he's a good rapper -- if I had to pick my favorite rap album, it'd probably be Outkast's "ATLiens' or Jay-Z's "Vol. 1."

The Green Day album is a fun nostalgia choice, but I'd probably actually go with a Ramones album :)

Greatest Hits are so cheating. What's your favorite Dylan album? I really like the Bootleg Series one from the "Royal Albert Hall," as well as "Bringing It All Back Home."

Beggar's Banquet is a fine choice -- I had trouble picking a Stones album. I really really almost went with "Between the Buttons."

I don't know anything about NOFX.

Good list.

See, I listened to the Ramones after Green Day, so for a simple roots choice, I picked Green Day. I'd probably say Bringing It All Back Home or self titled is my favorite BD album. I put Atmos on there because of how much it means to me personally. Like Manti said, it's a personal thing.

For my favorite rap CDs, most Atmosphere would be at the top, but The Roots, Illadelph Halflife or Things Fall Apart would be close to the top.
