I don't know exactly why this is being called "new news" and why it's taking a presidential statement to get it going. This mission of establishing a moon base has been slated for 2006 since early in the Clinton administration if I remember right. It's great that they're moving forward with it, but it's really nothing new. I try to keep up with the NASA website every once in a while. They've got some really ambitious stuff slated for the next 10 years.

There is a signed treaty from the 60's when we first landed on the moon that no nation can claim the moon for itself. It is international territory.

Course, that doesn't we can't plant a big ass LASER on the moon and say "No trespassing" and shoot incoming ships down with said laser, but there is a treaty, hehehe....

Yea..but you know how us americans like old treaties...the minute we can setup a colony, that treaty will be so much shredded paper

Funny. This is why I joined the Air Force... when I started, the plan was for it to break off into a "Space Force" and an "Air Force". I wanted to be poised to be a big wig on the Space Force side of things.

Now, they're actually going to try to do it... maybe I should stay in. I love Republican Presidents.

I'm sure Mickey Mouse would love it there, the moon being made out of cheese and all.

With this Pres it would probably say something more like, "Don't mess with Texas"

Mantison, first you want us all to move to Talus.

Fine, we all move and establish a presence there.

Just now that we have settled in, you suddenly start spouting about the moon!
Can we just for once stay where we are instead of you inciting us for more and more distant schemes.

Edward/Rak Hagga
votes no for Avian City on the moon

LOL Edward

But, isn't Talus a moon?

Perhaps Mantison is starting to blur the lines between virtual reality and reality :P . Let's just hope the first colony isn't built by the SOE devs  8). (Sorry, it really wasn't their fault. I think its the guys who decided that each team would program in a vaccuum without a team in charge of integrationg the product together)

No, it's a double planet with Tralus.

Rori is a moon, as are Endor and Yavin IV, but Talus is a full-fledged planet.

Oh..okay

Aeric vo-Telon Back in the armosmith business
and hoping that ME doesn't bring up these topics with dates. But if he does, and she's fascinated by the topic and cute enough...don't let her go.

We can see some of Aeric's priorities here. Games first, cuteness later. :P

On the contrary. I married a very attractive woman, but with zero geek in her. While it has its benefits, I find that being able to watch more movies/television together and having the same type of gaming interests would be a wonderful thing (even if expensive).

It's too late for me, but I like to help where I can. And I did say cute enough. :P.

is this getting off topic? oh yeah, its the general forum...we can thread-nap all we want.

Too late for that, I already made my pick (or rather she did).

And I did get her to roleplaying and watching Star Wars with me eventually... and occasionally playing a computer game, but with two kids playtime is severely limited now... at least for her.

Well BigYak, stick with it because in a couple of years, I'll be working towards the Airforce/becoming an Astronaut.

I dated a girl who's going through Astronaut training...

It was weird dating someone who beat my SAT scores, was smarter than me, got better grades, and could beat me up. Usually I'm #1 in all of those categories. Of course, I dumped her as soon as possible.
