Extremely good and immersive. Hearing the aliens speak makes me happy.

I don't want to dissuade anyone from getting it but as I play it, I feel it's kinda shallow, kinda "lite." It feels like I'm playing a console game and as a devout PC gamer, I don't like that! ;)

I probably shouldn't be knocking the game but after playing it for a few hours and with the hype I've heard about it, I'm a bit disappointed.

I'll be playing it more once I get back home, but I don't think it'll be taking much time away from SWG for me! ;)

Wierd...

I played it and it reminded me exactly why i quit SWG..

Its sooooo immersive and packed with tons of content...Havnt found any bugs and all the professions work...

I have done the first chapter (takes about 4-5 hours)....escaping from Taris and its been fun from the start.

I kind of know what you mean about the slightly console'y interface - but actually it sort of feels very similar to the way i played SWG, so i'm completely at home with it.

All i can say is - play the game its packed with BioWares typical polish, the voice acting is excellent, and the graphics engine is sweet. I thoroughly reccomend it.

I finished it about a month ago. Good game, and I played it on Xbox. It would have upset me to play it on PC though, for the reason Rocklar mentioned. Glad you reminded me of this. I still have to do a review on it for warcry.com and I completely forgot about it.

The only thing that bothers me about games like this is if you stuck in a part of the story and can't get past game could be over. Even with cheats.

I played Vice City on PS2 and loved it. Then I got to a part of the story where you are flying in a helicopter and shooting the bad guys. I could not get past that part of the game. There was no cheat to skip the level and no cheat to make you more powerful while flying in the helo. I ended up quitting the game stuck at that point. Very disappointing.

/agree with rho, some times you do get stuck, so the best thing is to find the tips and tricks others have used to get past the 'difficult' mission.

Usually this is just a case of some dirty trick or clever position to reduce the amount of damage you take...these days i feel no shame in trying those tactics, because developers rarely have the skill to make something challenging for everyone but not so hard that it stops the majority of players from accomplishing the task.

But so far i'm happy to say i'm beating KoTR quite easily...on normal...

Sluggy if you liked Baldur's Gate, which BTW I loved. How did you like Icewind Dale the first one? I thought it was was pretty good also.

While we're on the subject of baldur's gate (yes threadjack, I know) anyone played neverwinter nights? It's effectively supposed to be baldur's gate 3D.

Also, what did you think of Baldur's Gate II?

I really liked NWNs but the story wasnt for me, so I didnt play it past the 2nd Act, which I regret. It is a great game though.

I liked Icewind Dale 1, a little too linear in the scenario, but a well done game. I had IDII too, but I ended up not finishing it because of the things called MMO that kept asking for more time.

It took me around 8-9 hours to get off Taris. :P That was after doing all the side quest, exploring every corner of each map, and playing that card game in the cantinas a few times. I like to take my time and find out everything thing with games like these. I haven't even finished FFX yet and I had that two weeks after it came out. Not that I've been playing it everyday- some times I leave them on the selve for a while after spending a good while working on a long quest.

I've just started on the first quest after getting the lightsaber at the Jedi base. I only wish Dantoonie looked as good as it does in KOTOR in SWG. Heck, I wish SWG looked as good as KOTOR everwhere. :)

The "live turn based combat" is interesting, though it doesn't let you plan attacks very well but I like the pace things come at it. Some times. Is there away to set "auto heal"? I mean, the AI should be smart enough to stop attacking and snap a med pack into the bloodstream when there is only a line of health left. Maybe I need to get used to the controls, but pausing then swaping characters, clearing attack, and then applying med packs takes away from the scene some to me. Anyone have some pointers?

I finally got my hands on a US copy, because the German localisation is not quite as good as the original is supposed to be.

Can't wait to play!

Dont worry WarRedd

Once you get jedi healing for some of your party they are pretty good at using it to helpout the group...

I wish KOTOR was SWG...its the best RPG i have ever played, the boys at SOE need to take heed from Bioware and make galaxies better...if they did i'll come back but i somehow doubt it.

You DO know that you can stop combat anytime in the middle, and switch characters and stuff right?

Yes. :) But that seems really silly to me. It becomes more turn-based then and not live action... I think it would be smarter if they just let you hit a key to queue up moves for other characters other then pausing every 3 seconds. Or make their AI smart enough to heal themselves on their own, and use certain power attacks when needed. Oh and I'd like a "target" command that would allow you to command them all at once on who to attack without- Pause, target, attack- swap, target, attack- swap, target, attack. I've never played a game like this so you guys might have more experiance and understanding of why it is the way it is.

It runs more consistent with paper and pen RPGs the way they have it. More turned based. And you'd better get used to it real fast. ;) once you're off Dantooine, it's an absolute necessity. :P

It's no Final Fantasy, but it's really cool so far. I'm almost off of Taris, so it'll probably get even better.

I must admit it is amazing. I'm done with Manaan, Tat, Kashyyk, and on the Leviathan right now. It's gotten better and better. Of course, this isn't a good thing because I have finals in a couple days.

I couldn't get it towork properly. After every bit of dialogue spoken there is a jarringly long pause until the next sentence is delivered. When switching fromt eh starting screen to the game I have almost 30 seconds of a drak screen until the next screen actually starts. It's no fun playing under these circumstances.

That happened to me when I first installed. All I had to do was update my display driver for my graphics card. If yours is ATI just go to their website and download it, not sure about the others.

Thanks, Exar.

I did some looking around and have seen that there are several issues with KotOR and ATI cards. I'll get me the newest driver tonight and try it out. I hope it's all good then.

Having more fun with this one now. My darn JK Academy disk is messed up :(, so until I figure out how to get a replacement or something, I'm playing this one to get a jedi fix. Once you get some better skills and feats combat is smoother, so you were right. :) The AI gets a little smarter too, healing the squad when the need it during battle. I've never played a "pen and paper" RP game so this one has a "new" feel for me. I'm liking the "the choices you make effects the story" type thing, now I see what you pen and paper guys were getting at. Pretty cool. I've still doing all the little side missions and am about at 25hours starting on my third planet after Dantooine.

Also, now that Mircosoft has a gaming unit, you better expect that a lot more games are going to come from the X-Box to the PC. That was one of their selling points to developers- "Its easy to port from the X-Box to Windows PC or vice versa because we our OS's in both are very similar!"

Meh... still nothin' like a good 'ol pen and paper. Neverwinter Nights is prolly the closest the PC has come to a pen and paper, and the story to that game sucked (in my opinion). I lost interest about half way through, but it's the ability to create your OWN stories that makes that a great game.

And Mole, hope you enjoy!

Well I just found out the biggie and I must say that this is one of the best games I've ever played. I'm on my last map right now and I'm pretty bad ass. What parties do you guys use? (maybe we should make a spoiler thread)

Heheh.. you like "the biggie" eh? :P ;)

I used Bastila as far as I could, and that crazy old man Jedi. When Bastila was out, I used the wookie equipped with two 1-handed melee weapons.

I just finished it. I had to go with all Jedi. I used Juhani w/ Jolee when Bastila was gone. Juhani is actually really pimp. Great game, I really want to see the dark ending, but I don't think I could play it over again. Maybe in a couple months.

That was exactly what I said. Then I traded it in for FIFA 03.

OK, so this game is awesome! Very enjoyable... I really like how the fighting is set-up, the plot is great, and the graphics are amazing. I played it most of yesterday and am still on Taris but so far so good.

The only problem I have is that my movement gets really screwed up sometimes where the character is making the running motion, but is stuck in place and then jumps all around the screen. Very annoying but if I just switch characters it usually fixes it, and it seems to get much better if I reload the game.
