My roommate picked up Doom III today. The graphics are amazing and from what we says the gameplay is good as well.
I haven't installed it yet but I cant wait to get some multiplayer action going.

I don't wish to reveal anything, but in Doom I & II the game played much with the psycological for the player at that time. It may seem funny now, but at the time it was brakthrough in gaming.
It also does it today. More like Resident Evil series but on its own way.

Morning. My aunt is very mad at me right now.
Why? I took my youngest cousin, he is from 1991 or 92, to the netcafé and played with him on Doom 3. One on one. he is good but I am better. Then I saw they had Doom 3 for sale too so I bought it, brought it back up to my aunt installed it on their computer, let the little one play single player for an hour, while I made alot of small doom cretures from cardboard and hung them up in his bedroom. He wetted his bed last night.

I am having a problem installing this sucker (borrowed the game from a friend to try). It keeps getting hung up on disc 2 on a file called pak001.pk4. Error message something like not able to find file (not sure exact wording). This happen to anyone else?

Haven't happened to me. But the .pk4 file is containing pretty much all info about the game from scrips to gamemodels, teksture everything...
You can find it in the gamedata I think. Don't have the game right now, didn't bring my laptop with me.
I can only asy it is a bad install or something is wrong with the game. A bad copy so I can only recommend you to contact the id software support.

Got that problem fixed. Now the game freezes on me. Just as I get to the HR person.

Anyone else have this problem? Checking forums now...

OK, just had to get the new ATI Catalyst 4.9 drivers. Appears to be ok now.

Allright - finally got ahold of a copy and proceeded to scare myself stupid. Jumpy as all get out now...

Anyway, the reports are right: this game has incredible graphics!

I'm running it on a P4 2.0 GHz machine with 1 GB RAM and an ATI 9800 Pro. At 1280x1024 resolution and "High Quality" viewing settings, things are pretty good. Sometimes opening a door causes a bit of hesitation but nothing unbearable. What is unbearable, however, is how damn dark the game is! I've tweaked the gamma bit but then things all start to look washed out. That's my one real beef with the game.

And yes, the game may make you soil yourself...

Pretty much sums up my first experience with the game as well. Played the first level and wow!! Good thing I didn't play it in the dark late last night as I was originally going to do. Would have been a wet spot under my chair for sure.

Those Imps are just nasty!!
