This post is for the one or two people in the PA who noticed I "disappeared" for this past week without warning.

My wife got a call last Thursday that her mother had broken her left femur. She did this by standing up out of her wheelchair to be transferred to an ambulette for her monthly check-up. So they called in an ambulance and rushed her to the hospital for surgery on her leg on Saturday, so we left Friday afternoon for Canton, Ohio.

After her surgery they took some X-rays and discovered that her left collarbone is also broke, the doctors aren't sure if this happened when the aide caught her on Thursday or if she had broken it earlier by moving herself around in her bed. She had been complaining of pain in the left collarbone for a week or two. Most of us(meaning family) thought the pain in her collarbone was just her lung cancer spreading, since it had already metastasized to her lower left leg. We also noticed yesterday that there is also a bump on her lower right leg. I would have to guess that it is also cancer.

I was able to get a week of vacation to stay up there with my wife and give her support this past week, but I came home today to get some rest and get some things done around the house before returning to work on Monday.

She has a DNR at the level of Comfort Care Only, meaning no blood after her surgery and no IV's now that she is back in the nursing home. Its basically pain meds only which right now is a combo of Oxycontin and Percocet. She was on a morphine drip in the hospital and is expected to be back on morphine by early next week at the latest.

So I am sans wife at the moment since she stayed in Ohio to be with her mother and sister at this time.

My mother-in-law knows what is coming and is ready(especially for the pain to end). That really helps the rest of us get ready and know that when she dies at least she won't be in pain anymore. Yesterday she gave the instructions for her funeral right down to the songs.

So when if I'm online playing WoW and you say something to me and you dont get an answer it probably means that you missed my guild chat message saying "phone call afk" not that I'm being a prick. :P

Sorry I had to try to lighten this post a little.

Thats a shame. I wish the best for you and your wife (and her mom). My dad's got pancreatic cancer so I know how traumatic and stressful it can be to deal with this happening to a loved one.

Good luck

I hate hardware problems. I hope the overall emotional and physical pain is as small as possible. Tell your wife we're thinking good thoughts for her.

Very sorry to hear that, I hope everything goes as well as can be expected for you and your family.

I have been dealing with the same stuff lately... lost a close friend to lung cancer last week, and my grandma is dying of emphyzema. It's making me really really really want to quit smoking, I'm gonna do it May 1st.

Gosh it's hard to see someone go like that, but at least you all have a chance to say goodbye. Prayers are with you.

I just got off the phone with my wife her passed away about 0520 ET this morning.

So I'm leaving to Ohio as soon as I pack the car.

I'll probably take a short break from the game maybe 1-2 weeks or if I'm on it'll be just briefly.

All I can say is Thank God my mother-in-laws suffering has come to end.

My thoughts are with you, your wife and family. A loss, though expected and welcomed is still a loss. Support each other and remember the best of times.

I'm back....

Got in about 1900 EST after 11 hours and 700 miles down from Canton, Ohio.

The Mrs. is holding up ok for now but I know it hasn't hit her fully yet.

I might be on a little more than I thought because she is STRESSED and when that happens she sleeps.

Anyway thanks for all your thoughts and prayers.

I might be in game later tonight as she is about ready to fall asleep.

She didn't sleep last night and I know the drive(ride) wore her out.
