Not that I am tired of WOW, but our collective seems to be spread out among many games at this point. There are even members that don't seem to be vested in any game at this point (not that that represents a problem).

The WOW community is a fair size and has fairly a good/consistent player base. We can even take advantage of grouping up as more people start to close in level 60.

However, there is not the sense of community that we had when we started SWG or when Yak was pushing for the building of Avian City (nor does WOW actually have other non-leveling goals that SWG did very well).

Is there a game out there that might appeal to a majority of the membership? What games have you got tabs on waiting to see how it develops? Any other Avians considering a switch into WOW or going back to SWG?

Right now I am in Guildwars and am enjoying it, one of the bests parts in it for me is the henchman, I can now create a group all to myself and hunt solo with a bunch of npc's helping me (they are not always smart but they do help alot in some cases). The game is pretty much completely quest driven at least until you get into the PvP aspect of it. GW probably isnt alot of people's ideal game but I am having fun and the no monthly fee is definately nice.

As for other games coming up? I havent really looked into any. I will have to browse around a bit and look to see what is coming down the pipe. I did sign up for the beta of Auto Assault but havent gotten in.

My wife and I are holding out for Middel Earth Online (or whatever it's been renamed to now that MEO are the initials of a terrorist organization).

Middle Earth Online definitely has some ambitious goals, and I am looking forward to seeing how they will solve them, if at all. But I will probably stay away from it, as I do not think that any MMO can do Middle Earth justice.

For now WoW does everything I expect from an MMOG, and the new games on the horizon do nothing to catch my interest.

The problem is, and it has been stated before, that WoW is way too much based on levels. Everything depends of it. In SWG, pre-CU, you would craft armors for everybody and newbies were very welcome in high level hunts. Now in WoW if you have more there is more than 5 levels between you and your party, you become quite useless and nobody's having fun, neither you nor the higer levels. Moreover, it's very difficult to be "synchronized" with somebody quest-wise.

However, things change at level 60. With the many rare components or timed components (such as Mooncloth or Arcanite bars) you need some cooperation to craft epic stuff. Not talking about the instances run...

This said, for my part, I'm not going back to SWG. It's like the game is screwed to the roots. Maybe a SWG2, if there is one (with a different dev team (or maybe a different LucasArt :|)).

The Star Trek online seems interesting, but I do not know anything about the details. Would like to since the crafter and smuggler aspect of that game should be pretty high.

You sure about that?
Seems as though there would be little to know crafting involved.

yeah. If I had to pick one, LoTR Online is it. Should be sweet.

I beg to differ... I used to be an avid player of The Two Towers, an old fashioned text MUD.... it constantly had over 300 people playing.... and this was a little known text based MUD....

What it'll be like, I just don't know, but by the time Yak and Obo have finished, I think there'd be nothing better!
