OK, so i'm sick and going to be at home all weekend and I don't have internet. I'm thinking about buying a computer game. I haven't checked out Best Buy in a few months so I have no idea what non-online games are any good these days.

Any suggestions?

I love SimGolf. Nice easy to learn yet terribly addictive. Should be able to pick it up at a cheap price too since its a couple years old now.

Of course there's Half-Life 2, but getting that goes without saying.
Any of the Grand Theft Auto series is also great 1P experience.

My suggestion is the (relatively) new Pirates!

1. Easy to get into.
2. Doesn't need patching.
3. Will keep you enthralled for the weekend.
4. You will not want to play it again when the weekend is over. (no long term commitments!)
5. You can dress up like a Pirate, and have an excuse.
6. You can easy explain all those "Arrrs" as symptoms of your sickness.

Total War. Either Rome or Medieval. I've been playin' Medieval TW for ages. STILL playing it. I'm an addict.

I might give the psychonauts a try but I am playing Rome Total War and it is awesome. The best yet because of all the info the UI gives you in regards to your city management etc. The battlefields don't feel much different than the previous games. This is not a weekend commitment though. I have been playing the same campaign for over a week.

Well, thanks for the input all. I ended up being stranded at the girlfriends place... she has a crappy computer so I didn't have many options, but I decided to play online poker all weekend! I was craving some poker and hadn't played in over a year... it was quite fun and I ended up about even (made like 20 bucks)!
