Expected release as tomorrow for Gamespot Complete Subscribers

http://www.gamespot.com/promos/bf2demo.html

Quote:
Since there is a lot of interest in the demo, this post is the official news, which will be updated every time we know something for certain.

As of 11:40am BST today, the expectation is that the demo will not be available today as it has yet to pass final stage testing.

The demo is anticipated to release tomorrow at which point it will only be available on Gamespot for "Gamespot Complete" subscribers.

The full open-to-all release of the demo is expected next week. We do not have a fixed day for this release at this time.

Quote:
Update :

We've now heard that the demo will not required any form of paid subscription to Gamespot. When ready, the demo will first be available from here.

Apologies for the confusion regarding when and where the demo will be available, however this news should be treated as "most accurate" at time of writing.

Should any further changes occur I will update this post accordingly.

So ya there that is if you havn't been keeping track of it...looks awesome!

I finally managed to download it and it runs pretty well on my machine. I was a bit shocked :). And what's with this only tested on XP crap.. bah I say, BAH!

I've only played a bit of singleplayer but there seems to be a lot of information to keep track of with orders flying around. Although it would probably be better on multiplayer with the squad system.

I don't know why, but being a sniper and sitting up on the top of a tower crane just seems soo appealing :)

Aww, Obo, the more I hear from you, the more I like your point of view. This is always the first thing I do in games (and in PaintBall or LaserTag as well). :)

Sniper is also always my first choice of character in these games. I actually got quite proficient in the Half-Life multiplayer games.

Whaddaya think, a full squad of Avian snipers joining a BF game? Could prove disastrous should a tank ever spot us.

I usually go sniper myself. Been playing on a server run by a friend and since I get pretty laggy at times I have usually been doing the sniping bit or if on the marines I choose to be the aircraft carriers gunner, it is nice to sit back and fire heat seeking missles at incoming aircraft. And it sometimes takes people awhile that even though counter measures can fool the missles the large gattling gun doesnt rely on heat signatures for targeting :). Once in awhile I will jump onto the helos as a gunner. Love the new TV guided missles.

I tired out the aircraft, but I keep crashing :P.
Tis fun firing off heat seaking missiles into the oil tower.... for a while.

It probably doesn't work with just the one person, but does the commander get to control a UAV?

Yes I believe so, in a mulitplayer they can activate one and put it someplace on the map, at that location everyone on their team can see a yellow radar blip that will show enemy toops movements for a little bit.

Hmm, if we could get a few Avians together in game I'd go buy it and join up.

lots of fun the choppers are so much easier to fly then DC or the BF:V versions

Yeah having a ball. It is nice when you get to play on a server without the timelimit.

upgraded weapons are good too

Flew my F-35 JFS into the boat support bay and landed in the back...which was alot of fun...wasn't quite able to get it out again had it going hit the afterburner but still wasn't enough to keep me outta the water :)

I like the Spec ops upgraded weapon..the sniper rifles are weak hard to pull of a one hit kill and the zoom is terrible... RL: Max Effective Range: 800 meters...the zoom ingame is terrible still usable and fun at times :)

The Helos fly like school buses and the Aircraft fly like a dream the two are totally unbalanced...way to easy to fly the helos (result of their low speed and sluggishness)

All that said tons of fun...

Yeah thinking about getting the full game today if I can find it. Cant really fly very well yet, prefer armor anyways. As for the sniper rifle, had a really cool shot yesterday, was on top of the cran and a Helo came swooping in at the flag below. I took a pot shot at the cockpit with the "special" sniper rifle and it went into a flip. I was thinking what the hell when I saw a body fall out of the helo and saw the kill notice for me. Pretty cool but yeah hard to get very many good kills with the sniper.

i downloaded the demo and tried flying the helo's and jsf's, but i had no mouse control. i had to go in and fine tune the mouse sensitivity for each craft (airplane and helicopter). after that, i am now a pretty capable helo piolt, not so much a jsf, but i usually go for the helo anyways.

the helo is also most effective when you can get a gunner. a good piolt with a gunner who can use the guided missles is the rxxor!

I'm thinking about taking a MMO break in a little while. Might have to jump on the BF2 bandwagon. Especially if I get it to work on my new 53" screen. :D
