Hello all you computer-whiz's.

I am in dire need of some help. I'm not sure what could have happened, but today I was playing SWG and it froze. Then I had to restart. When I did, I tried to start up SWG again. When I did, right before it goes full screen it gave me a error message saying that I should do a full scan blah blah blah.

So I do, then I start up again and it is working fine. Then half an hour after playing, it freezes, goes black, shows some squigly static stuff and dies.

Then I try to turn my computer on......

It boots, but while it tries to load up my operating system (Windows XP Home), it gives me this message. It also turns itself off at that point and trys to restart again.

Isass.exe - System Error
The RPC protocol sequence is not supported.

So yah......... I am about to either breakdown crying or beat the living electricity out of my comp with my Glamdring.

So thats what happened to you! We missed you on the hunt. The dead Gurrecks we left scattered all over Endor didn't have nearly enough sword slashes in them! :)

Compared to some of these other guys I'm a computer dutz so I'll leave it to the nerds to help you fix it.

I'm sorry, husband. That's what happens when you play SWG. I told you it sucks. ;)

It screwed mine up too. Had to replace the mobo and HD. Phooey.

Wow a new HD for this ? Sounds like an expensive solution. Did you try everything ?

Gonna try installing SWG again. I lost everything on my harddrive, but I may not have to buy a new one.

There are quite a lot of people who do not keep any really important stuff on their HD or those who reguaarly make backups.

Edward/Rak Hagga
can at least remember the time when he made complete backups of all important files

Good points, Ed. My comment was mostly jest but regardless of how little I've lost, I alway dread reinstalling all the crap (drivers, Office, anti-virus, Messenger et al, Text Pad, blah blah blah :P) that I use that isn't installed with the OS. Not a big deal but seems like such a waste of good gaming time ;).

Pssst, Norton Ghost. Or is it Symantec?

I tried ghosting but I make so many changes to my system it's hard to keep a current ghost. Or maybe I'm just lazy. ;)

Yay for not having to absolutely throw out my HD. As of now, I got everything working except SWG  . It says something to the effect of "SWG is not installed fully or corrupted." Also, when I do anything past moving the mouse, every once in a while the screen lags and goes black for a couple seconds. Then it catches up. I'm not sure what is wrong, but I'm going to be getting someone to come look at it.

I still have my other house to play at, so I won't be absolutely gone for now.

If you've not already, try completely uninstalling SWG and then reinstalling. There are some files/directories which, if saved, will allow you to avoid having to reconfigure key mappings, etc.

The way I work with computer problems is that I work a lil bit, then I leave it for a day and come back the next day.

Today I took your advice Rocky and it worked so far. Thinks are looking good.
