Hi All.

I'm creating this thread as a help source for KoToR. List problems/answers below...

I've started playing Knight of the Old Republic and am still on Taris. I am stuck on a really stupid part in that I can't find this "Holden" character. According to the woman near the "base" apartment, he should be in the cantina but all I find is a gambler, the pit fighting, and some other people to talk with, no Holden. Anyone find this guy?

Also, how the heck do I get my sorry ass off this planet? I can't find a way to get into the military part.

Any help would be appreciated

Holden is in the cantina in the room with the band. He's standing just to the left as you walk in.

To get into the military base, you need to speak with the Hutt (can't remember his name) and then the droid shop lady. I won't say what happens because I don't want to give up anything, but that's how it goes I'm pretty sure. I finished it a few weeks ago so I may be wrong though.

I just got a new computer and everything meets the minimum. 1 problem, the intro (star wars movie) wont play. it just goes to a black screen. I put it on my old machine which dont meet the minmum and I can make it to Tarris before the screen gets really choppy. Anyone know why I cant play the opening movie?

Thanks Exar. Now if I can put my controller down from Need for Speed Underground for a couple hours to play KoToR now I should be good to go.

Baslo - no idea why the title screen is so messed up for you. Can you at least bypass it and play the game?

Nope. Escape does nothing Alt+F4 does nothing Ctrl+Alt+Delete does nothing. I have to turn off my machine or else it stays black.

Windows XP
Pentium 4 2.8GHz
512 Ram
Radeon 9200 128mb

I just found a feature that can disable the movies I may try that, but I like watching the movies. I hope This will work and will get me by the first movie, and then turn them back on and have them work.

It might be the display driver. KotOR needs a very recent one, update yours and try it again.

And make sure you download the update.

If it doesn't work, reload game, run it once, download update, running should be fine.

Everything is working now that the movies are disabled. I dont think its the driver because my old comp was almost a year and it could handle the movies just not the game itself. Right now Im working on going light and I to want to replay it again except as Dark.

There's a free helpline you can call I think, you should give that a try.

Finished the game in 60ish hours, although I left some side quests undone. Kept them for my second run, where I'll go dark side for a change muhaha. I'll try to do the 2-18 thing too. (Not getting levels before getting to the JEdi academy so I can finish as a 2something-18 Jedi. My first run had me finish 8 warrior-12 Jedi, so I didn't have so many force powers. But my saber hits kicked ass lol.

I played as a lightside Scoundrel 8 - Consular 12

I can't say that I didn't have enough force powers.

I loved that game and I will definitely replay it as a darkside Jedi Guardian.

had problems with his drivers at first as well... switching screen modes meant staring at black screen for over a minute. Updating the device drivers for the Radeon did wonders

Yes, but he still should get it.

On second thought, he shouldn't: it sucks up way too much time. Time better spent in SWG

Edward/Rak Hagga
lost a lot of SWG playtime just because of KotOR

*Spoiler Alert*

I finished the game as 7 scoundrel 13 Guardian for the light side. Now to a theory. (Heres where the spoiler is) I finished the game last night I got up and was feeling pretty good about killing Malak, so I go and turn on the TV and I see Total Recall is on TBS. Is it just me or did Total Recall get transformed into a game by way of Star Wars? Total Recall: Memory is erased and given a new identity so he can help someone find a high ranking person in the rebellion on mars so this person can be killed, and he no longer has any memory of him once being a bad guy himself. Sounds like KOTOR: memory erased and given a new identity to help find the Star Forge so it can be destroyed and has no memory of being bad. I dont know I find the plots of both of these to be pretty similar. Anyone else?

Yes, of course. Always has been.

I'm learning all about war memories. Ed, Japanese people are supposed to feel victimized and shunt the blame onto others, you Germans are supposed to be really upset and repentant and stuff.
