City of Heroes! Anyone else following this amazing new MMOG coming out in April? Looks to be a lot of fun and I can see Avian members having a blast there. Check it out: www.cityofheroes.com |

I could see that being quite a bit of goofy fun. (if the community is decent) Ffeedom Force was great fun, but I never got int othe multiplayeraspect of that game. |

I read the write up for it in the last Computer Gaming World Mag. Looks interesting. Don't think I'd personally pay a monthly fee for it though. |

I'm not too big on superheroes, so this game will probably pass me by. Cool concept though. I like the unique directions and genres MMOs are moving into. |

I signed up on their forum to maybe get into beta and have a crack at it beforehand. |

I have been checking it out some time last year and thought it looked pretty intersting with the itemless approach and the nice powers. However, I am not much into Superheroes, so I'll pass it by. Edward |

I got an invite to close beta today. Funny how things work out. The game I really wanted to beta test was SWG... I was loyal to the boards, and got an invite a couple weeks before release. Now, I simply signup for COH, never post to the boards and get invited to close beta. Figure that out. I'm going to give it a try... |

After talking with a couple people, I've been really starting to look into this game. It actually looks like a lot of fun, and I think I'll try it out when it ships next month. If I like it, I will probably migrate there and cancel SWG for an extended period of time. I do still plan on checking out WoW, too. This game does look like it will be a lot of fun, though. |

I'm enjoying the beta. I only wish it had the quality of graphics as SWG, however, the game is fun (and that's important). My fun factor with SWG is starting to fade. Maybe, I just need a change like WOW or COH and then take another look at SWG later (I'm not quiting yet... ![]() |

Hi all I used to be in this PA pre release... Noticed that I still have access to this section. Anyways I will be playing CoH come release (and in beta in a few days) The game is awesome btw my friend/neighbor is in the beta currently it is really cool. The character customization blows SWG away. |

Heh, we have been slow in cleaning house. A good thing it turns out now. Stay around and share some tales about CoH, if you like. I am always interested in hearing about other MMOGs. Edward |

CoH seems like it has the potential to be a great game so I will give it a few months at least. More importantly some of my RL friends will be playing and that is where I have the most fun in MMORPG's. Still time to pre-order and get into beta by April 7th (plus get a 3 day head start on the retail version) if you haven't already. Release is on 4/28 FYI. |

I too have seen the Beta, and the character customization is non existant, it is COSTUME customization. Don't be misled. COH does look like alot of fun, I have my pre-order already and am waiting on the BETA email, but NOTHING touches SWG actual character customization, COH is a costume thing. Just to set the record straight. |

Your right about that character customization thing... bad wording choice I guess. There are very few character customization options available but there are 100's of costume options. At any rate I would say it takes longer to create a character in CoH than any other game and that was really what I was shooting at. |

They are saying they have in the neighborhood of several million costume combinations. And they have the ablility to add more over time. |

I do like the costume customization feature also, however, I'm still spoiled by the graphics quality of SWG. I'm having fun with the COH beta. Maybe I like the traditional level system (brings back memories of my old EQ days.. hehe) that COH has. I also like the various super powers and the animation while in battle. The macro capabilites that SWG has is nice (if used in a responsible manner), it's the MACRO grind that I hate the most in SWG. I'm guilty of doing the macro grind, but the reality is that it's boring. Cheers! |

So who all is playing/testing CoH, or are planning to do so? I've got my preorder in and am waiting for the beta invite on April 7th. Everyone who is getting this game will have to make sure to meet up and play together, and keeps tabs on each other. |

Bit of an update... I've been playing CoH beta for about a week now and it has been alot of fun but I am still worried about my interest in a game that has no real loot. The only thing to look forward to is getting new powers at higher levels. Anyways post it here if people will be meeting in beta so we can share are experiences in more detail. |

I'll be in beta on the 7th or so. I'm not sure what kind of name I'll have. Is everyone using some kind of weird comic name, or do people have name names, but just different sounding, or how is the naming convention working at this point? |

So they have stuck to their design decision of "No loot"? I am interersted how that will work out. SWG has suffered for it "no k3wl l3wt" decision. Edward/Rak Hagga |

I'm currently playing the beta and I don't think I will be buying the game. For the most part, the fun is short term for me. My number one issue is the graphics. Just not up to par with current hardware and software. The missions aren't bad. Having a mission that only you or your group can enter is very cool. I believe this is instance type missions. SWG is trying this out with the Corvette mission. Once beta is over, I'm out. |

I still haven't gotten my pre-order beta invite. Hopefully I won't have to wait for one via email tomorrow. I think I'll probably just stick with Cetera for right now for a name in-game. Hopefully I'll see you guys tomorrow. |

I am....Electricito!!!!! Got up to level 3...game has its fun moments, but from what I've seen so far not even close to the breadth of SWG...seems very linear...which in the beginning isn't a bad thing because even in SWG I find myself asking...uh, what should I do now...you won't have that problem in CoH, IMO. Very different games...and I like different aspects, but I can see myself getting bored easily. With SWG I got tired of the grind, but with CoH I could see myself getting bored...but it's early yet. |

Of course as you get higher in levels you begin to hit that solo wall and can't really do missions without help. Groups are not hard to find. You do see many people soloing the lower levels which is very easy to do, but the action is at the higher levels. I'm Level 7 now and plan on getting level 8 tonight. With a good group and steady play, you should be able to gain a level per day or two. Thats my goal. I really want to see this game at a much higher level before I decide to buy it or not. Currently, I don't plan on buying it because of WOW and Everquest II. Lets have as much fun as we can while we can...hehe GreyDog Level 7 Defender |

I finally got my email, at just after 11pm tonight. Talk about going down to the very wire. I think I'll just use Cetera to do some testing with, and maybe change for launch or something. I'm sitting through the 2+ hour download right now. |
