Post subject:  Tires

I just got two new tires on my car today. Last summer I narrowly missed killing some dumbass as I was coming off the interstate. He tried to flip a U-Turn right in front of me as I was coming off the exit ramp, and I locked up my wheels and put a lot of tread down on the ground. So even though my tires only have 14,000 miles on them, I had to replace two of them as they were now bald on the spot they locked up on.

Anyway, the new tires I got were Michelin Hydroedge. And let me tell you, they rule all tires ever. They're 85,000 mile tires, and the best all-season tires I've ever had. They are so unbelievably quiet, and so smooth riding, it is like my car is perfectly brand new again. It has been a noticeable improvement. And they have excellent traction. I drove around on them today, taking corners at high speeds, and it was like nothing. My other tires would squeal and I'd lose a little bit of grip, but I was taking corners today that are 35mph corners at 70, without a squeal and like it was nothing at all.

I decided to get these tires after doing a bunch of research on the 'net on pricing and life and quality, and such, and these were the best all-season tires I could find anywhere. Customer ratings are the highest I've been able to find too, and even though they are designed to be more of a wet tire, a bunch of people have said they work excellent in snow. Not as good as a real snow tire, of course, but I've heard they are much better in snow than most all-season tires.

I'm pretty stoked about them. I'd better be, though, as they cost me $100 per tire. That part I wasn't very happy about.
