Okay, Jr. Film makers, who would you have cast in the lead roles in the prequels...

I shall go first...

Obi-Wan - Ewan McGregor (SP?) is an inspired choice, no change
Dooku - Same, again, inspired choice
Emporer / Palpatine - Same......
Amidala - probably the same...
Mace Windu - Hell yeah the same, more screen time
Jango Fett - Antonio Banderas, I mean, come on, really.... (hehe)
Anakin - someone unknown but talented, ANYONE other than Hayden..

People I would create a role for in my version...

Sean Connery
Brad Pitt (hehe)
Kevin Spacey
Gabriel Burne
Liz Hurley (Twi'lek dancer anyone?)
Kiera Knightly
Anthony Hopkins

So, what about you guys....

I agree with all your openions... except Hayden. He never irked me like he did many of you.

I really like all those you would have created roles for.

Nice topic Manti!

Obi-Wan - Ewan McGregor (agree with Manti)
Dooku - Ian McKellen (or maybe Anthony Hopkins)
Emporer / Palpatine - Same definately
Amidala - should have thrown Kierra Knightly in the lead role there, instead of a body guard.
Mace Windu - Again, agree with Manti.
Jango Fett - John Travolta
Anakin - Steve Buscemi?? Maybe? :P
Jar Jar - Put Woody Allen in there with his normal voice instead of that stupid ass voice they did for him.
Shmee Skywalker - Mimi Rogers
Jabba the Hutt - Rosanne Barr

That's all I can think of at the moment.

The thing that bugs me with Hayden is it seems forced with him...

Like he is trying too hard...

I don't have anything against him, he just feels unnatural in the role, thats all.....

He is a bad actor.

Irritating yes, but wooden , not so much...

I have a hard time seeing the all powerful and cunning Vader rise from the mess we see in Ep. II...

A better question would be, who would you cast for the originals if they were going to be remade (God forbid, its happening without recasting).

Ack, the dreaded double post. Haven't had that happen in a long time.

I was thinking maybe Billy Bob Thornton and Angelina Jolie for those roles. Somehow the whole incest feel to their relationship fits. :P

If I could I would've put a young Alec Guiness in as Obi-Wan. In my view (and as an Englishman, it is likely to be biased!) Alec Guiness was one of the main reasons the originals were so good. Of all the characters in those three films, Obi-Wan is one of the few who has such intrigue that you leave the cinema wanting to know more about him. Most of the other characters were traditional stereotypes (the farmboy hero, the classic villian, the princess to be rescued and the eccentric mentor (yoda)) but Obi-Wan was a former general and jedi knight and you know almost nothing more of him, I believe it is to Guiness's credit that you leave wanting to know more.

*Praise singing off! So few people know who Guiness is these days*

Guiness almost didn't do the movie because it was beneath him...

He was a gifted actor..

You do realize McGregor is English as well, right?

scottish i would think

Post subject:

Yeah McGregor's a Scot and Guiness was a better actor. Guiness is probably one of the few actors you can claim could never play a bad role, regardless of the quality of the script.

Trivia: Tom Hanks' character in the new version of the ladykillers was played by Guiness in the original (and disputed better version).

ahh, good point....but here's my take...that "teenage" I know it all, annoying additude is what makes him follow the path that let's him fall into the place of "Vader"...the Vader we see in the Original Trilogy is a seasoned vader, one that has grown up about 18-20 years, whatever the time difference is there.

When Coran Horn was imprisoned on the Lusankya, he ran into an old man claiming to be Dodonna. He helped Coran escape.

I don't have a particular role in mind, and obviously this suggestion doesn't have a reality timeline in mind, but I'd love to see George C. Scott in a role in Star Wars. Imagine him playing with Christopher Lee and Alec Guiness. That'd be an awesome cast.
