I'm friends with a student at school who's part of a string quartet called Lucido Felice and they make some amazing music. What they do, is they take old songs that everyone knows and loves and arrange them into classical music.

They're immensely talented and they just made the Star Wars theme into a quartet piece. They've also done the Super Mario theme, Stairway to Heaven, Zelda, the A-team theme and tons of other amazing songs.

I know this is a shameless plug but I think it's worth it.

Listen to as much as you want you can download the songs for free, and maybe buy the CD for 5 bucks. It all goes to charity.

For the musically inclined,

- have you ever noticed how similar the first 8-12 bars of Mendelssohn's Wedding March is to the Throne Room music at the end of ANH?

John Williams is a genius...doesn't mean he doesn't rip off...I mean gain inspiration from some of the best....

yes...i have!, there is another song I can't quite remember the name, I wish I could have my good composer friend handy to ask him, but i've heard another song with a very similar string of notes that match well with Batman, and Superman...heh, some too close.

Also, if anyone is a fan of the Final Fantasy video games, my friend is arranging a suite of all Final Fantasy music included from all of the games. So far the only ones available are the love theme from FF9 and the opening theme from FF6 (FF3 in America) but they are both amazing. Hopefully he'll start working on it soon and have it done in a month or so.

Cool stuff here ! Thanks for the link ! If you want remixed video games music, there is a GREAT site : http://www.ocremix.org/index.php

And I have a question : I'm looking for a "classic" version of Nothing Else Matters, I've heard it on a video and looked for it everywhere I could, nothing...It's not the S&M version with the SF Orchestra, it's really all classic, no guitar at all. If one of you have this, please tell me :)
