Well I broke up with that heartless egotistical chick, and now I am free. It feels Downy™ fresh.

I thought it would be funny to ressurect the thread to illustrate how short this relationship was.

Hmm... sounds too bossy. You should dump her quick. Women like that only get more demanding as time goes on. If she doesn't know the importance of playing SWG, she may be a mental defect anyway.

No thats the other 2500 girls at my college. If my calculations are correct, she is the last sane girl in town.*

Mathematically speaking...

Code:
SWG          1
time
----  =   ---------
          "quality"
  1         time

I gave up on having girlfriends, or having girls in general, too much pain...too many horrible bad experiences...not worth wasting my time anymore..

Well if you end up like me, married....My suggestion is to get her hooked on PC gaming.

It is hard for them to bitch and complain when they are 2 hours into StarCraft, or Diablo. Unfortunately my wife never fell in love with SWG, she felt like she had nothing to do in the game. But while she plays her other games, I am free to play what I want.

Word of warning #1... Once they are hooked you will need a new PC for your self, otherwise you will only be able to watch her play.

Word of warning #2... One of you must make sure food is cooked and the kitchen is cleaned once in a while. Otherwise you will starve and the roaches will take over.

Rocklar your equation is irrefutable.

Rofl. This is actually not a bad idea, but it wouldn't work for one critical reason. She is a graphic design grad student, and she is very comfortable with computers...only...I don't know how to say it...she is a Mac user! I know it's shocking. She has one of those new pod-like IMacs with the adjustable LCD screen. It is so slow!

It only means I need to be more crafty about my tactics...

Well my wife will NEVER :( play computer games. That's just the type of creature she is. (next time, I'll be smarter about picking my wife ;) )

However, I am patient so I started working on an insidious plan. I got her pregnant (twice actually).

Now either way it will work out (after the kids are a few years older). If you have a boy, then chances are they will be into gaming (and I finally have that extra excuse to get a console as well), otherwise, I think a paternity test might be called for.

If you have a girl, well then, she will have a shopping buddy at worst and/or the kid will want to play computer games as well.

Mid Term solution. Big dark bags under my eyes as I trade sleep time for play time.

But she uses a Mac? It's great for her profession, but little else.

My wifey actually hogged alot of my SWG time in the first two months after launch, she was on summer break from teaching and she was playing a doc on Intrepid...now when I'm on for a few hours, I can occasionally hear that *sigh* of he's at it again...but she very rarely bitches. I think she would play if we had two good computers, and we didn't have to juggle my toddler's "me" time.

She actually bought herself a gamecube, and bought SimCity 4 and The Sims Deluxe for herself...and play Diablo 2 with me a good deal, we made it past Diablo himself on the expansion, but she gave up on the last chapter (the expansion part). Heh, good thing I hooked up with the daughter of an old Coleco vision programmer, she's was also into D&D, and her dad is good friends with Dave Arneson (co-creator of D&D). woot, guess I lucked out, her tolerance towards gaming is quite good. Even though she doesn't play much at all anymore, she understands. 8)

I could never get my wife interested in playing on the computer. The closest I came is when I bought the Sims and showed her how should could decorate virtually in the game. However it ended up that I was always controlling the game since she had no inclination to move up the learning curve. She had ideas on what to do, but no desire to learn how to do it. Ultimately I was playing the game with her, and when there were periods of non-decorating, her interest waned. Needless to say she never got into it without me there.

Somehow I don't see her playing Counter-Strike or SWG anytime soon.

The Sims 2 is going to rope in a massive quantity of female gamers, I think, which is so necessary for the industry.

Cordalis that is so cool. I play D&D with some film students occasionally, and my girl doesn't know yet. I would rather fake "coming out of the closet" than admit I play D&D. So many people have permanent stereotypes in their head about who these people are.

I should come up with some sort of euphemism for it, and tell her I am going to a "book club" or something. A "real-time, interactive group fiction counseling session" sounds good too.

Well thankfully (and unthankfully) I don't have a girl yet so the only thing I have to worry about is how much my eyes are deteriating from all this computer use! (the unthankfully part is that I'm sure a girlfriend is a great person to have around when you're not otherwise engaged with your computers! Make the most of it as you never realise what you've got until it's gone)

Girl: Is...is there someone else?

Me: I'm afraid so...

Girl: *Sniff*...is she in savannah?

Me: No, Dathomir.

Girl: What? Where is that?

Me: The Outer Rim.

Girl: Is that in Louisiana?

Me: No, its all on a server.

Girl: So she is a waitress?

Me: No, she's a nightsister.

*Girl looks puzzled*
