Post subject:  Serious sys.error

My computer is crashing.

The error message I receive is the topic heading.

Files are:

C:\WINNT\Minidump\Mino72904-03.DMP
C:\DOCU~1\OWNER\LOCALS~1\TEMP\wer2.temp.dir00\syseata.xml

Ideas...suggestions?

Happens within a few minutes of my login to SWG.

Can you do a system restore to a couple of days ago? Perhaps that will fix it if nothing else does.

I suppose it is a virus. If things go right I will update my virus software today and perhaps try a system reboot in safe mode and see if that helps.

Going to take off early from work today and see what I can do. Really want to get this corrected as I have grinding to do in SWG and I just got some new toys today. Poser 5 and Carrara 3. I have been wanting to play around with 3D and bit and figured this would be a reasonable set-up to play with. But have to wait on it some I guess.

System has not crashed so far unless I log in Layfayette. It has not crashed when off line, nor did it when I logged Lac into AC. Layfayette is at the starport in Coronet, within a few seconds I get the sys error message. Updated my virus software (Norton) and did a scan it did not detect anything.

Just to see what happens I will try and run Layfayette out of Coronet 15m at a time, as it seems like I don't have much more time than that before a crash.

Thought I had it corrected for no crashed over the weekend, but started up again last night. I did notice that my Norton Anti-virus auto protect feature was turned off when the computer rebooted, I don't know if it is the default set-up after reboot or not, but I enabled it again and did a full scan. Seems like after I did that the last time was when I was able to play again without incident.

It was fine for a few days and now it is back. Contacted Symantec and put up my cash to speak to a real person. We did a step by step analysis of start-up programs and system config, but nothing they could find nothing that they were aware of that could cause a problem.

The best guess they came up with was the possibility of driver or mother board problems. The fact that it seems to crash most often when I am in a place like the Coronet spaceport while in game and also have not experienced crashes outside the game makes me wonder if looking into the video card driver might be the next step logical. Guess that will be tomorrow as my computer here is just to slow to get anything done without spending massive amounts of time getting anywhere on my dial up modem.
