Have there been any reports of people's computers getting screwed up from installing? I was planning on waiting 3-4 months before upgrading, but I may do it sooner.

Here is my story as a warning:

I had the english version of home xp installed (but was somehow missing the installation CD, have no idea where it was). I tried installing SP 2, and all went fine until I rebooted.

Then I got a missing or corrupt file: /WINDOWS/inf/biosinf.inf or something was not there or corrupt, and I was told to insert the original xp installation CD to try and repair it.

Well, I could not find it, so I ended up running around in shops to find the first and best version of home XP. Cost me about 200 dollalrs. Wish I had access to internet, then I could probably had found a cheaper version, but without a working computer, no internet to order from.

Morale: Keep your installation CD handy.

I actually was forced to..SWG was acting up and it was the only thing i had not done..i installed and it fixed me up.. don't ask why..i don't know...

Rumors state some older games are having problems..but i have not had problems yet

Thank you for your information guys. I installed Service Pack 2 over a couple of hours ago, restarted my computer a couple of times, and played Counterstrike 1.6 for a little bit with some friends, and haven't had a problem yet. I'll have to test and try out some other games, but its looking good.

Installed first day, no problems noted.
