Post subject: | Arcade Console |
A buddy of mine is considering "investing" in a classic arcade game console. We're trying to decide which one to get, so I thought I'd conduct a long-missed Avian discussion on such an important cultural topic... If you could buy just one classic arcade console, and money were no object, which game would you buy? Also, if anybody has any good websites for purchasing these things cheap, let me know. |

Does anyone remember Cyberball? Maybe I'm dating myself a bit, but my buddies and I would play these massive tournaments with that game. Hours and hours on end, when we should have been studying or sleeping. I could have bought the thing with the money I put in there. If you're unfamiliar with the game, here's a good link to info: http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Zone/1894/ |

Gauntlet was awesome, but they did have versions for consoles of that. Warrior needs food badly |

Loved Guantlet too! I can't think of a console game that could ever live up to the arcade version. I still see a Galaga machine around from time to time. Very tough to pass up. |

I like to think of myself as being in my late mid 30's ![]() But still a kid a heart. I think that's what my wife means when she calls me immature. |

In the hunt for the Arcade console, we've narrowed it down to either Galaga or Spyhunter. Also in the running was Donkey Kong Junior, Space invaders, Burgertime, and Astroids. I'll let you all know the final choice. |

I played the original space invaders at the local par 3 golf course in my town. I never got that good because I never had enough money to play. The game I was probably the best at was Time pilot. I set many a high score at the pizza parlor next to my high school in the mid eighties. |

Ja'ad you brought back some little thought of memories ref: Cyberball. I've even gone so far as to try and convince the wife of the efficacy of turning our basement into a game room (when I was single, in my mid twenties, and living in a post college frat house essentially... I bought 1942 for less than they are going for now...it broke, I was dumb and I dumped it at an apartment complex trash bin). Anyway, I found a site that will locate a 4 player one, refurbish it, give me a 5 year warranty for $1,999. If I picked up a cocktail version of Galaga..I'd have the beginnings of my own little Silver Spoons room (now that's dating me). bakke |

ROFL - Silver Spoons! Tha's great. I'm considering Nasi's idea. That would be the way to go in my opinion. I'm wondering if I can discipline myself to finish the project though. Always a challenge. |
