A friend of mine introduced me to this pretty amazing sport recently and I've been reading a ton and pricing weapons. Anyone have any first-hand experience with airsoft?

I've been browsing online and would love to get one of the following kits:

SG552

Spetsnaz

If you're not familiar with Airsoft, I'll give you the nickel tour. Start with paintball. Crank up the projectile velocity by another 100 fps (feet per second) and switch from large, liquid-filled, quick-to-slow balls to small, paint-covered BBs (note that "bleeders" is a term used while playing this game ). Replace the full face masks with goggles and put on real gear. Think realism. :D

Do most Airsoft weapons feel sturdy or do they feel light plasticky? I've found a small number of weapons that are billed as "all metal." They're more expensive but if that means I'll break them less and they feel significantly heavier, it could be worth it.

I bought mine for $99.00 on ebay. It is the exact height, length, width, and weight of the real deal.

I've played with a beretta once interesting though it wasn't a top of the line gun

My roomie has a top of the line Tokyo Marui FNP90.

It is sweet especially because the real gun is also made from plastic, so its JUST like holding he real thing!

Very fun, I feel like Motoko Kusanagi when I hold it.

You can see the model here:

This makes people have to use real tactics and movement, unlike paintball which i thing is unrealistic. Now simunitions (Army Paintball) are a different story. Those things leave scars!

love the P90..great looking gun

some of my friends went paintballing..honestly i never have but in anycase...one came back with some nice welts on his collar bone..he peered through a window saw a group of guys who were within the No-Shoot/Option area he called for them to surrender or be shot they all dived and put some serious shots through the window into my friend lol

airsoft is much cooler personally...

My unit was doing MOUT (Military Operations in Urban Terrain) training with sim rounds. There is supposed to be a 5' safty kill zone so no one gets hurt. People didnt really use it. I still have a scar on my hand, and my buddy has a scar on his face. But it was hella cool fun.

Note: Sim rounds are like paint ball bullets that are shot through our actual weapons. Its neat stuff.

The P90 is a very cool looking gun, but I've found it's too small for me. The bullpup design is pretty amazing but I prefer Steyr's AUG - fits a 6'2" guy a little better.

True true. At 5'10" and slim, I feel like the P90 was made for me. And plus the NATO rounds are interchangeable with that of the H&K Five-Seven pistol! That's a damn cool set of arms! All polymer based! And what a cool pistol!

At half the price, I'd take the Steyr AUG. Both the P90 and the AUG look sweet though.

Post subject:

hehe the Aug is cheaper cause its not a starters kit like the SG...

btw do people even still use the Paintball BB's that you can use for Airsoft? I know they sound like a good idea but from what i've heard they tend to jam easily etc...

my Favorites tend to be a decked out M4 or Car15, P90, or a MP5SD series
