With Avian becoming a multi-game PA, should we not have access to other Avatars and not just SWG ones? :D

There are several people in Avian who are willing to turn just about any screenshot of a character you play in any game into an Avatar for you. Perhaps those people could pipe up here to let us know who's willing.

I know, I was thinking about the default avatars.

You suggest we just grab a bunch of Avatars from the Blizzard forums, maybe give them the Avian frame and offer them in a public WoW gallery similar to the SWG ones?

EDIT:
Some noodling around with the gimp produced this:

The Avian frame does not quite fit with the Blizzard color scheme and the level icon is somewhat intrusive. Better take an actual ingame shot to produce your personalized avatar,

Edward

Good research there Ed. Thanks for the input. With a bit of work, I'm sure somebody could pull some screenies off the website and make some avatars. We could do the same for some of the other games too. I don't think it would be too hard for somebody who knew what they're doing. :P

That's what happens when I have too much time on my hands or mostly boring work to do. I get really creative when procrastinating.

Which obviously I do not :D

We have something else in common then my friend. :D Just this morning, instead of working, I opted to finally put an idea down on paper that I've had for a novel for more than a year in my head.

I'm pretty keen with photoshop, I used to sell sigs for plat when I played EQ. however I dunno anything about uploading the pics or how they would be implemented as avatar choices. if someone knows the second part of this I'd be willing to provide some tailored graphics.

I believe an Admin can implement the second part.

34: Can I have a custom forum avatar?

Yes, you can. Some avatars are taken from the various screenshots or concept art released. When the game goes live (or at least at open beta), we want to use the forum avatars as actual in-game shots of your characters. We want to ensure that they are all headshots of the eight playable species, so we're are not allowing linking or user uploading (have to maintain continuity).

If you want to have an avatar upload, there are a few guidelines:
It must be 60x60 (including border)
It must be a .gif (approx size 3-4k)
The image MUST be from a game screenshot or concept art, or a concept image of your individual character. No 'real' images.

If you wish to submit a custom avatar you may PM or e-mail the webmaster, Obo al’Can. When available, he will upload it to the server.

This is the thread where I toyed around with a few Avatar ideas before choosing one.

Basically what you do is create your avatar/avatars, Run the ideas by us so we can oooh and ahhhh. Then PM Obo, he can upload images to this site.

whenever I can pry myself away from WoW next (possibly next time Dalaran is down again...) I'll make some images following the aforementioned guidelines and PM Obo. this might be up to 2 weeks from now as I am flying down to FL for a week on tuesday. any ideas or input would be greatly appreciated!

(stupid server downtime) ...and I'm finally back from vacation in FL I started on some avatar images. I'll put them up on the net and link them here as I make them. *please* if anyone has any suggestions let me know! as soon as I have a male and female avatar from each race done and I've heard some input from the folks on the boards I'll make them available for upload if the webmaster wants to use them for the Avian site.
Shawn

PS had some problems linking the pics, I blame Tripod... check the link below or just cut and paste to see the images. thanks!
