World of Warcraft Vs EverQuest II. FIGHT!

As undoubtedly the whole community knows already, this past November has brought us two of the most riveting titles the MMORPG market has had in a long time. First released was EverQuest II, with complex gameplay and breathtaking graphics (for a MMORPG anyway!). Secondly was World of Warcraft with its hand-crafted and classic Warcraft cartoonish design and horribly addicting gameplay that would make somebody with ADD proud.

Now I won't lie, the office here is fraught with theWorld of Warcraft fanatics who will proudly boast that there is over 80 servers and over 500,000 copies sold in a single day! And this is very true. It's also true that the game is outstanding, gameplay fun and fulfilling and overall a genuine Warcraft experience for those that have played the series. However, I truly feel that this is a game that will lose its shine given a year?s time. It is almost not even a massively multiplayer game at all, it seems to be an Action RPG - and this is why it is so popular.

EverQuest II is no such beast; it?s a massively multiplayer game to its core. What does this mean? It means time invested, and that seems to be everybody?s biggest complaint with EQ2. The purist MMORPG player enjoys time spent in their game, building their character. They don't need to get level 30 in 2 weeks. Let me put it this way, take the average player of EverQuest and of Warcraft III and tell me which has spent longer playing. I guess only time will tell, I do enjoy World of Warcraft but for now EverQuest II is my poison of choice.
