Anybody else here a poker player? I play quite a bit, and I realized we've never really brought it up here in Avian before.

YES!!! I play twice a week... once at a local bar that throws free tourneys (winner gets a trip to vegas), and then I throw a game at my place on Friday nights. I have my own table and clay chips, and I gotta say the clay chips and table make the game a lot more fun.

I have an account on Pacific Poker. Have had it there for maybe two years. Play once in awhile when the mood strikes. Great fun. Good site too.

Oh yeah, when I left SWG I got hooked on Party Poker... made a bit of money, started coming back down towards even and quit. Played Pacific too... Pacific is not as nice as Party, but the players tend to be worse.

Good chips and a good table make all the difference in the world! You know, you're not that far from me.... :D

I can't play online that well. At least, I don't like to. I played a couple times on Party Poker, and came out about even both times. I do much better in live games. My game hinges a good bit on my ability to read people.

I get on holdempoker.com now and then, it's free using play money.

I often want to get together with some friends of mine, but they seem to be living further away all the time :( I long for the old days of walking to the next building at the old apartment complex, but now it seems it's a scheduled event and a long drive :?

I know the feeling. With my second child on the way now, the play time is getting shorter and shorter all the time. Seems like if I'm going to play, I have to schedule it a week in advance, whether it's poker or some other game.

I had a thought this weekend. I wanted to get some feedback from you guys on this idea. What if we ran an poker tourney online somewhere (one of the places with play money, like Yahoo Poker) but there was an entry fee paid into a paypal account. Top three spots would be in the money, and some was held back into the Paypal account to do things for Avians, like hold a contest or drawings for hardware/software as prizes. I've thought for a long time, this PA would be really kick ass if we gave away stuff every once in a while. This might be a viable way to do it. Am I completely out in left field here or does that make any sense at all?

I have been playing pretty seriously on PokerStars for about a year now. I play for about 2 hours a day. I win 2-4 "Sit-n-Go" Tournys a day then log off before I am tempted to go into a higher stakes table. I play $2-3 tables and tend to do very well.

I sat in a few tourneys and buy-in tables while in Seattle/Tacoma a few weeks ago and also did well there. I usually play Limit Hold'em and Omaha, as a general rule I stay away from No-Limit as the risks are just to high for me since I tend to play higher $$ Tables.

I play No Limit tables and Pot Limit Omaha, it's a blast, but you really do have to be careful if you start to lose. I've dropped a few hundred dollars over a few days once. It was profit, but it still was a wake up call.

Yeah I was up several hundred dollars and then I tilted and lost most of my winnings. Even in only playing PL Hold'em you can swing 50-150 bucks in a single hand. That's real money, winnings or not!
After my last big loss I am on a forced break for another week or so. No since on loosing all my winnings away.

I play once a week but I'm not any good at all. every monday night a group of my friends and I go out drinking and inevitably everyone that can still stand after the bar closes goes back to my buddy's house and we play hold-em. only a few of the other guys are any good and since we're all friends and we're all drunk we only play low stakes. after I loose my 20 dollar buy in 45 minutes into the night I usually just pass out or go back to drinking, but it's fun while it lasts =D
