I played AO a while ago and from that experience, I'd still say it's still overpriced. :P

I will, however, download and play it a bit to see if they've improved the basic game any.

Its been awhile since I played this, but boost your stats first (focus on your green primary skills) then spend points on skills.

I suppose I'll have to get on this too. No reason not to, with free. It may be something fun to do some weekend. My free time is pretty limited again (I'm back to two jobs) but free is free, right?

I play this too.
(I'm all for free games :D )

I have a adventurer called Mudcrow
and a soldier called Rudiments
both about lvl15

If you've just started try reading this
http://aovault.ign.com/View.php?view=Guides.Detail&id=2

And dont walk through doors unless you know where they exit.
My soldier is stuck in Stret West Bank because I walked through a door and was transported.

learned to upgrade today...awesome!

so what weapons should an Adventurer use? i have some pistol skill and upgraded pistols but i like my upgraded sword and Poision dirk combo also...and that Bow looks awesome too! im lvl 8 with like 12k IP's to spend

tried the bow..granted with low skill didn't like it i'll stick to swords and pistols maybe trade my bow to my martial art's guy if I can at some point

adventurer's are lots of fun kinda independent class I can play solo fairly well so far...and can do team heals and stuff if im in a group

Adventurer is the best (especially for solo playing)

you can use some really good shield & healing nano's

I would advise dropping the swords and using dual pistols.
You can upgrade the pistols on newbie island. (with power source from a cargo droid if I remember correctly)
And later you can upgrade them quite easily again to solar powered tinker pistol
then solar powered mender pistol
then solar powered mechanic pistol
then solar powered machinist pistol
add a pistol expertise buff and you can take on the world.

(the instructions on how to upgrade pistols can be found in books in the shops, don't buy the books, just shift click to read them)

The benefit is no reloads, no bullets. You only need to raise pistol and fling shot & dual ranged so you can invest more in nano skills.

If you buy the full set of newbie armour and upgrade it all, this will then be good enough until you're lvl 20-25
And dont forget to buy a nano stater kit (found in the "box" behind the base commander guy)

Once you reach the planet, upgrade map reading and buy the directional arrow upgrade & machines upgrade
Also upgrade break/enter and disarm traps. Also buy/find a lockpick. Some missions require you to open locked doors, and also some chests are locked & booby trapped.

And buy a backpack so you can carry more items. Essential

Skill reset, resets ALL skills and lets you readjust your use.
You get a reset as noob and then every once in awhile, (cant remember the exact levels)

What do you think the motive was to give this game out for free?

How will they make money now? By selling expansions?

The motive was to widen the user base, get new players into the game. If you like it, you will want to buy expansions, because without expansion stuff your character will effectively be gimped.

soon I'll be able to morph into a reet.
and I can't wait until I can morph into a Sabretoothed Panther. (Then I'll get my revenge on the pack of them that chased me from one end of Clondyke to the other)
