Im looking to buy an LCD moniter in the next few months. Any ideas on what moniter is best for a 17'' and around $300- $400?

Im leaning toward the Dell UltraSharp 1704FPV. I just wanted to know what opinions you guys have of them.

Dell = Viewsonic

One in the Same.

Personally, I stick with the CRT.

Reminds me of a great clip, you should really search the web for it.

It's called "LSD being tested on british troops" or something similar, it's hilarious and of course has this dry british commentary on top, which makes it even better. :D

I should really help get this thread back to topic but I don't know anything about LSD... err... LCD screens. Sorry.

I recently bought a 19" Samsung SyncMaster 912n and I love it. It ran me $600.00, but it was worth it. I bought it at BestBuy. They also had the SyncMaster 712n. The 712n has better refresh rates and such. If I wasnt so set on a 19" screen, I would have purchased it. The 712n was, at the time, the best bang for the buck. I think it was priced around $350.00.

I bought the exact same screen from Best Buy. Love it. Saves so much desk space and doubles great for watching movies on.

If they are the same then why is the Dell cheaper than the Viewsonic?
I would prolly go with Dell if there is no difference.

Yeah my 21inch CRT is about 8 times bigger and 1000 times heaver than Danyale’s 21inch LCD. If I ever switched to a LCD I would have an acre of extra space on my desk!

Thanks for starting this thread - good see these opinions, guys. I'm shopping for an LCD and want to make sure I get something that'll handle games, etc well.

I have a Samsung 173T which has good refresh rates, and very happy with it.
