unfortunatley I would not suggest uninstalling IE. There are still some web functions that require IE only. I have IE installed but no icon to it on my Start Menu or desktop.

I -hate- IE and the other day I was forced to open in for a web function and within minutes I had several pop up and pop unders...

...you ever drive through Vermont? Well Billboards are outlawed in all of Vermont. It's an odd thing you don't really notice they are gone, you just enjoy the views. Once you cross into NY or MA you think to yourself wow what are these things? Only to realize that they are huge ugly billboards lining the highways - you dont notice when they are gone but you sure do take note when they return.

Depends on the version. I don't know whether it was do to sp2 on winXP or whether it was an update to IE itself but there is a rather effective pop-up blocker on there now.

I really enjoyed Firefox for a while, and still have it set as my default browser. After using it happily for two weeks, it started hanging... as if timing out on some operation, every time I open a new window. Damn annoying - I open a window, and have to wait for 20 seconds before anything will show or I can even move my mouse in it.

Also, my corporation has built IE checks in alot of our internal pages, so that if you're not using IE (ore reporting that you're using IE) then it doesn't show you anything. Damn poor design, but I'm stuck with it.

So, I've just put two icons on my quick launch bar - one for IE, one for FF.

Maxthon is to IE what Cosmos is to WoW, kinda...
Adds tons of features, last one being a RSS feeder for example. You also have the classical tabs, adblockers, groups and you can even use the Gecko engine if you want !
