Very cool... I had no idea there were professional video gamers until I heard about it on the radio a couple weeks ago.

I wonder what kind of games they play and what format they use for showing these competitions on television.

From what i understand, one of the main games is starcraft over there.

Starcraft is huge over there. In the US I think its CS and other FPS games that are the main competitive games.

Yes, Starcraft is THE hot videogame in Korea. That is the reason Blizzard decided to launch Korea directly after US, before Europe.

Heh, in Korea there are even TV channels dedicated to showing live footage of Starcraft games by pro players, the same way Football would be shown in the US. Sounds slightly crazy to me, but who am I to complain?

But the development is not limited to Korea. There are several CS clans that have gone pro and live off marketing deals and prize money. And it appaears that lifestyle becomes more and more viable.

one clan even announced to play World of Warcraft professionally, once the full PvP battlegrounds and Honor system are in.
