Why is it I can quite happily install Linux in half an hour and yet after a whole day's attempt, Window XP Pro simply will not install?
[/rant]

For those that want an explaination, I finally decided to upgrade from my old Win98 setup to XP (went hand in hand with buying a new hard disc). Having got most of the way through the setup, it trys to boot XP for the first time and stops with a fatal system error! (It's apparently something to do with hardware compatiblity).

Anyway, as I have to start exam revision and what not, I won't really have time to mess around and look into it for a while. So, no SWG for me :(. Unless, of course, anyone knows some way of getting SWG to run in Linux? :) :P

Transgaming used to support SWG (Wine), but I don't think it does anymore.
I know it did about the time of JTL beta, as there was a thread about it then.

How big is your harddrive? I think there is a cap at which XP will work.... beyond that cap you need to install some stuff your HD supplier should have given you.

I install XP from scrash in less than 39 minutes

Yeah, me too, Cyrus. Having used everything a lot from Windows 3.1 through XP Pro, including the infamous Windows ME, I have to say that XP is one of their nicer products. I have a lot better luck with it than I have had with any of their previous products. I think Windows 2000 may be technically better, but I like XP better just because it is quite a bit more user friendly, and therefore works better with my family. It installs very easily, has drivers for just about everything known to man, is easily adapatable, and never crashes.

What kind of an error is it giving you, Antan? And by what kind, I mean be specific, and give us the text of the error if you can.

I agree. Much less problems than the other OS's they made.

Fatal stop error

code: c000021a

Yes I have looked it up.
The Knowledge base says its a hareware compatiblity issue.

The hard drive partition cap, I believe, is due to the file system. FAT32 can support a maximum of 32GB per partition. If you convert to NTFS (as I did) however, the cap is extended to 2TB.
