Post subject:  Who is still in school? How much do you have left?

With my old buddy Rom growing up, graduating, and getting a Real job, I started thinking about the rest of us guys slugging it out in school. Who all is still jumping through hoops, trying to graduate? What else do you have left before you graduate? Have you been looking at employeers? If so, who and where?

I am still in school. I should be graduating this December. If something happens and I miss my December graduation date Danyale will surely kill me.

This semester (spring) is just about over. With finals still hanging over me it is imposable for me to predict my final grades... but if I had to guess I would say I will have all A's or B's.

All my friends at school think I have lost my mind. The classes I am taking this summer are some of the hardest in my whole curriculum. They say taking one of these classes is hard enough in the summer. I am taking 4 classes this summer… 3 of them being extremely hard. However I tend to make my best grades over the summer.... so I am hoping the compressed schedule will be good to me one last time.
    This summer I am taking:
    Construction Materials
    Physics II
    Construction Law
    Human Behavior in Organizations

Compared to my Summer schedule, my fall schedule will be much easier. Only 2 of them will be demanding outside of class, with the rest being easy as long as I attend class.
    This Fall I am taking:
    Construction Enterprise
    Managerial Accounting
    Highway Construction
    Small Business Management
    Industrial Construction Estimating

As far as interviewing goes, I have just barely scratched the surface. All the company presentations I have attended here at LSU have been companies either looking for interns, or looking for final semester seniors. I didn’t meet either of those criterion, so I just used the presentation as a chance to learn what employer’s are offering. I imagine that I will start working on interviewing much harder once I get within striking distance of my final semester. I had planned on doing much better at all this… but as it turns out planning interviews too far in advance is not what many employers are wanting to do.

I have been in contact with two of my former bosses who have started their own company in Houston TX. They have mentioned several times that they want to hire me as a Project Manager/Engineer. I like the options I have with those guys, they will pay me competitively, and I get a truck and other small perks with them… but I am scared that they may be too small and not able to give me the atmosphere that will make me happy. I will visit them this summer and try to nail down salary and working duties/conditions.

Anyway that is my info. Where are you guys at in school?

Finish my Master in a month if it doesn't kill me first:

Doing:
- Computer Organization (how processors work and binary numbers are calculated... wheee!)
- User Interface Design (which was the most dissapointing in that the teacher has no friggin clue what he's talking about)

So.... close.... I've got some major senioritis....

Well I'm at University (don't like calling it school, didn't like that place!). I'm doing a MEng Degree in Aerospce Engineering. I graduate in December this year and plan to pass with distintion.

I will then take nine months out and do a few hobbies and such as well as a part-time job (probably as projectionist in a cinema).

September next year, I plan to start a PhD in something like Aerodynamics. That will take three years (and give me a nice fancy title :D).

After that I'll get a job for an aircraft manufacturer and design and build the next concorde. I'll then go on to design and build reusable spacecraft launch vehicles. Then I'll build my space station. If I'm still alive after that I'll happily retire.

At some point during all that, I may or may not meet the girl of my dreams, get married and have kids. I'll also probably end up owning the spacecraft manufacturing company.

By consequence of all of the above, I will die a billionaire!

Finished my undergrad at University of Michigan two years ago in Comp. Sci. Engineering.

After working for a small company as a programmer for 2 years, I found myself wanting more, and have decided to go for my MBA. I will go to Georgia or Georgia State part-time (evenings, so I can keep working full time) in the fall. I should be done with school in 3 years.

Holy crap, just how old is everybody in Avian? You guys are all completing your college careers and actually doing things with your lives. I'm finishing up my junior year of highschool this year, and I'm hoping to attend either University of Wyoming due to their good engineering program, or University of Michigan just cause that place is awesome. Honestly, how cool would it be to go to a college with the same team name (Wolverines) as your highschool. I'm just waiting for my senior season of football to start....nothin better than that.

Thanks Golga! I thought I was the only old fart here.

It's good to see so many hungry minds out there yearning for knowledge! Makes me, sort of, sentimental for my school days many, many moons ago.

However, it also reminds me how I NEVER had any money and lived in a shit hole for 4 years. God! How I hated that.

I went to school with grand dreams of teaching literature to the masses and possibly writing the great American novel. Instead, I'm now a sales manager and very happy with it.

It will be interesting to see where you youngsters (jk) end up.

Good luck and study hard! While I play computer games!

Graduated from university (University of Alberta) in April 2002 with a BCom in accounting (with distinction). I have since completed the rigorous professional courses and killer 3 day long professional exam and obtained my Chartered Accountant designation. Currently a senior at one of the biggest 2 accounting firms in the world and will be moving up to do tax work in July.

That being said, I have been looking into taking game design courses. Unfortunately the closest place with such programs is in Toronto.

After school, I spent three years at University in Oslo with Computer Science studies, followed by the compulsory year in the armed forces (airforce btw).
Having studied prior to joining, I was assigned IT-duties at norwegian defence HQ with regular hours, instead of boring guard duties :)
After leaving I decided to study something else so I spent four years at Norwegian School of Management to get a Masters in Business Economics. Currently working as Strategy/Project manger at one of three largest Shipbrokers in the world.

Sounds very familiar to Emotional Intelligence , which I think is a damn good idea and a very worthwhile read for anyone over 25.

And I thought Obo was a grumpy old man.

A little chubby half balded man with short legs.

We're working on it...

Her boyfriend is a BIG SW fan and he's working on it too!

People Excellence - it's basically learning how to make the most out of your employees by investing in them through learning; letting them have an input in the general business plan and basically making them feel more valued.

And if it all works out, the company gets to fly a little flag and put a plaque on the reception wall! (And hopefully have a more productive work-force and a lower staff turnover).

Sounds great - in theory.
