On my own

Like a Whisper...

It's like a Drifter... not a whisper... not a hobo....

Geez guys, get your Whitesnake right.

*edit* OK, I stand corrected.... kinda.

Here I Go Again
(Coverdale/Marsden)

I don’t know where I’m going
But, I sure know where I’ve been
Hanging on the promises
In songs of yesterday
An’ I’ve made up my mind,
I ain’t wasting no more time
But, here I go again
Here I go again

Tho’ I keep searching for an answer,
I never seem to find what I’m looking for
Oh lord, I pray
You give me strength to carry on,
’cos I know what it means
To walk along the lonely street of dreams

An’ here I go again on my own
Goin’ down the only road I’ve ever known,
Like a hobo* I was born to walk alone
An’ I’ve made up my mind
I ain’t wasting no more time

I’m just another heart in need of rescue,
Waiting on love’s sweet charity
An’ I’m gonna hold on
For the rest of my days,
’cos I know what it means
To walk along the lonely street of dreams

An’ here I go again on my own
Goin’ down the only road I’ve ever known,
Like a hobo* I was born to walk alone
An’ I’ve made up my mind
I ain’t wasting no more time

But, here I go again,
Here I go again,
Here I go again,
Here I go...

An’ I’ve made up my mind,
I ain’t wasting no more time

An’ here I go again on my own
Goin’ down the only road I’ve ever known,
Like a hobo I was born to walk alone
’cos I know what it means
To walk along the lonely street of dreams

An’ here I go again on my own
Goin’ down the only road I’ve ever known,
Like a hobo I was born to walk alone
An’ I’ve made up my mind
I ain’t wasting no more time...

But, here I go again,
Here I go again,
Here I go again,
Here I go,
Here I go again...

* in the 1987 version this word is changed to drifter.
David's management thought that hobo could be confused with homo! :)

Nothing get a song out of your head faster than humming the Oscar Meyer Weiner song.... of course, then that song will be stuck in your head. So it's really a matter of the lesser of two evils....

Beats having the wiggles or other kids shows running around in there.

and Angus...I pulled my lyrics from the same site as you ;). Only I removed the * after Hobo.

I actually know the song by heart, being a child of the 80's... I just didn't feel like typing it, so I googled the lyrics.

Back when I was in High School I got UB40's remake of Elvis’s “Falling In Love With You” stuck in my head. I thought it was cool at first singing it in my head all day in school. I thought it was cool singing it in my head all evening at work while I mopped grocery story floors.

I DID NOT THINK IT WAS COOL when I could not sleep because the damn thing was stuck in my head. Nor the next night, nor the next night. I was a wreck, a wilting man, the song was literally killing me.

For YEARS I avoided that song like a scared girl. If it came on the radio, I would switch stations with the speed of the fastest superhero. I think it was seven years later I was at a wedding and the song played. My white knuckles dug into my chair as I feared for my life. Was I to make a run for it? Had I already heard too much? Not wanting to give the impression of a bomb threat, and realizing that the damage to my brain was most probably done, I stood there and took it like a man.

Much to my surprise I slept like a baby that night. :P

I actually ran across my Whitesnake tapes not to long ago, while sorting through a bunch of stuff in storage. Damn tape snapped when I tried to play one though :(. Hadnt played it for over 10 years so I guess it was just too frail to play after that long *shrug*
