So I restarted my computer yesterday and when I opened up Firefox all my bookmarks had vanished. I know I didn't delete them or do anything to it directly to remove them. Anybody got any bright ideas?

I'm holding them for ransom. If you want to see them alive, deposit $500 into my Paypal account and wait for further instructions.

That happened to me a couple of times with FireFox also. Take a look in your profile directory (Documents and Settings\---name---\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxx) and see if there is a backup of your bookmarks. Both times mine dissappeared I was lucky that a backup was there so I just renamed it.

Also, now I use one of the bookmark syncranizers that are listed on the site (bookmarks_synchronizer-1.0.1-fx.xpi). I LOVE using this. I set up all my bookmarks just the way I wanted them, for both my laptop, work computer, and home computer .. merged everything into one. Now, whenever I add new links I just "sync" them .. it uploads an xml to my ftp server and I can always keep my computers in sync. But, better yet, it keeps a complete backup of my bookmarks for me :)

My bookmarks went poof but turned out that my Firefox User was swicthed.

You will have to look up how to change your use but should be a simple google.

Make a copy of the files (just to be safe) and rename the bak one to a html file and see if that works

hey Rom, sort of the same thing happened to me just a few days ago and i found this:

http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/profile

i dont know if this could be causing your specific problem but it worked for me. Here is the command for it:

Quote:
# Start > Run... from the Windows Start menu.
# Enter firefox.exe -profilemanager and press OK.

hope that helps. :)
