Last night roughly 12am Eastern, my guild Benediction was running Magmadar. The hate was being held to perfection,(<3 Ugluk) healing rotation down pat, DPS was steady. Looked like an easy win over the foe that trumped a handful of times. And the unthinkable happens, server crash. We all write out GM tells going for funniest and most bizarre. I wrote roughly,

"I spend 15 dollars a month on a child slavery salary to play this game. It's the only thing that brings me joy, why Blizzard? I might as well kill myself now? Goodbye Cruel World...."

We attempt him again, 16% (Close huh), It's late on a Sunday and people have to leave. I turn on the television to put me to sleep, I hear the doorbell. I, in my underwear open the door, two cops stare at me. They are responding to a possible suicide threat, and read my GM ticket. I try not to laugh as I take it as seriously as I could with my poker face. They take my license, no registration and do some sort of /who with the Police Department. Give me a stern warning and leave.

Lesson Kids, don't attempt suicide on WOW.

Blizzard really cares about you

Another response:

Care my butt - the cops were just there to ninja loot the corpse.

I bet if it happens in SWG, they get Darth Vader to show up at your door and help you pull the trigger.

Except that by the time the GMs get to your message, Darth would arrive to find a putrid, bloated, two-week old corpse. :P

::ducks::

Hey, Matija... are you playing a Horde character on Dalaran that likes to commit suicide into IF?

I saw a Matijja in IF the other die... I promptly shot him in the back of course... but I was just wondering?

Thanks for shooting "me" in the back, though :P

I remember something similar happened during the first year of UO. There was a guy posting on the forums who seemed to get more and more depressed. This guy posted all the time, every single day... never missing a day.

Then one time he posted something about wanting to die then just stopped posting. People got worried. The cops showed up at his house the next day. The only way they could have known where he lived was if the Devs gave them the info.

Everyone gave them credit for caring, but us old timers knew they just didn't want to losing a paying customer.

Or just imagine the CNN backlash... and, I'm sure no one wants to think that their failure to meet customer expectations caused someone's death.

Well, remember some devs do care. For those who have forgotten, go visit the memorial flag on Tatooine again.

What's that one there for?

LONG story... a very active Beta tester for SWG, very active in the community...

Decided he was going to propose to his girlfriend... then died in a car crash on the way there. Very sad story... he was memorialized in the game.

Pretty sure that is how it went down, that was a long time ago..
