Hey all, does everyone know about Google Maps (http://maps.google.com/)? It's the best mapping site out that I've found. I love it.

Google just published their API so programmers can access their mapping software and do cool stuff with it. This guy has build a great site that layers a driving map on top of a satellite map: http://www.kokogiak.com/gmaps-transparencies.html

Great stuff!

Yeah, Google Map is pretty cool. However, not as cool as Google Earth.

Same here. Just think about the next (logical) step... being able to have users push info back to Google and update their DB. Think if every user of this fixes 10 small mistakes, or adds a bit of content that continuously improves the system...

The prob is that there's so many ways to inject bad data... maybe the solution is to hire college kids and give them $.50 for every mistake they fix or new location/business/item they add...
