My 53" RPT TV arrived and I was wondering if anyone has ever played games on it and experienced the "image burn-in" problem. I have read a few forums with the general consensus being that burn-in should not be a problem if one is careful not to leave static images on the screen for too long (whether from pausing games, to even just life bars staying in one place too long).

Anyway, I was hoping to get trusted Avian experience/opinion on this, including how long one could play games on it and maybe be safe.

I'm no tech genius, but I thought burn-in was a result of the phosphors literally burning away after use. So, CRT TVs, and even Plasmas have this issue.

Most Rear Projections I thought didn't use phosphors. They can experience misalignment, which is common among the older 3 beam RPTVs, but today's technologies, most specifically the Digital Light Processing (DLP) TVs use just a single filter to modify the light, and therefore there can be no misalignment of the colors.

Just my understanding.....

Been playing xbox many, many, many hours on my rear projection tv .. have never had a problem. I never "pause" and leave it though.

Cool. That kinda what I got outta those other forums. Be knowledgeable (i.e. not stupid about leaving it one and little careful what games you play) but shouldn't have any problems.

What brands do you guys have? Mine's a Panasonic 53" (don't recall model, but musta been the 2004 version).

Mitsubishi WAS60 or something like that, 60" HDTV version. I LOVE the HDTV part of it. Watching some TV shows in HDTV really makes a big difference.

Yeah, I never appreciated how WHITE Conan O'Brien was before.... or how many wrinkles Katie Kourick is getting.

If I recall, older RPTV's had that problem with the guns going prematurely when using consoles. That was a long time ago too. I have a 57" Sony rp hdtv with many many many hours of console time on them and never an issue.
