So was looking at tvs for my dorm room and noticed alot of them don't have the white/red/yellow front or even back av/audio/svideo connectors. are they there and im just missing em...and if there not is it still possible to hook consoles up to one of these things? Claims its VCR compatible but without those little plugs it wouldn't seem like it would be...so ya I know nothing about tvs and was just browsing them today...probably have to check it out instore one of many examples http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp ... 7626938279 |

I dont know alot about tvs but last year I was also buying a tv for my dorm room and looking for a tv with red, white and yellow hookups up front. At bestbuy I found this http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp ... 7624908190 I am very happy with it. Crystal clear video, not bad audio (havent noticed any problems like bleeding or anything) The price is about doubled of what you are looking at but with this tube I know the hookups will work with vcrs, dvd players and consoles. I think that tv will work but you wont have stereo sound, just one sound channel and a video. so really I think thats ok unless you plan on hooking up a stereo to the tv or something. |

the white red and yellow cables are called 'Composite Connectors' Yellow = Video Red = Right Audio White = Left Audio Typically you have 2 ways to get a TV/Video signal. 1. Coax in from Cable Connection to DVD player. Then Composite out to TV. This allows your DVD player (or whatever to have seperate signals for each video/audio type and gets a better picture and sound. Many -cheaper- TVs do not have composite connections and only have Coax. In this case you would have to: 2. Coax in from Cable Connection to DVD Player and Coax Out of DVD player to TV. You dont get as good a picture but the difference is nominal is you are not a tech head. To hook up your PS2 or other gaming box just buy a cheap converter. This plugs directly into the back of your PS2 and has a Coax connection to your TV. I used this for a while on an older TV and the only issue I had was when the graphics where really white (bright) I got video noise - that fuzzy audio noise when there is to much being crammed down the small Coax Cable. It is annoying but liveable if need be. this is the adapter for the Xbox. http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?c ... d=26%2D674 edit: Or just go from your Console to your DVD/VCR and Out of that to your TV using Coax. You will still get noise but you will not need the adapter/ |

I just in the back of the tv. But I feel like they slowly disappering from the TV because the need for them isn't so great now that coax and scart are so reliable and easy. |

The TVs without the "RCA" or "Composite Connections" are actually Monitors. More manufacturers are making all of their low end models Monitor TVs instead of Full-Feature TVs. This comes in handy for many people who don't even bother to use the speaker(s) on their TV anymore due to having a Multimedia set-up. Many Monitors come with a Coax hook-up and an S-Video hook-up, however a lot of Manufacturers keep the S-Video hook-ups out of their lowest-end models. You could pay $10 - 20 for an Adapter, or just spend $50 for a VCR and run the game through that to your TV. That way you can record your games if you want. lol Either way, Best Buy is definitely the place to buy them. |
