Have you seen it? Will you see it? If not, what the hell is wrong with you??

And if you don't know what I'm talking about... shame on you! SHAME!!

In my opinion... Serenity is the best SciFi movie.... ever.

It rocketed its way into my top 5 movies.

Indeed! I took a little time away from my family to see this and wow...now I have two other goals: 1) see it again soon and 2) get ahold of the 14 (?) episodes of the TV show.

I now have the DVDs on my Netflix Que. question, will I miss out if I see the movie before I see the TV Show?

No, the movie is great by itself, but enhanced by the series.

I agree the movie holds its own, you might miss out on a few background info (like who Shepard Brook is) but it isnt required viewing.

Holy crap. Apparently time for me to crawl out from my rock. I have never heard of this series before.

Awsome series K, only shortlived though because nobody seemed to know much about it until after it was off the air. Now everyone I talk to here knows about it and loves the DVD series of it that came out.

I went to see this movie tonight. I went in with a bit of a guard up as so many people have said so many good things I was afraid I would be let down.

All I can say is HOLY CRAP! If I had not gone to see the last showing of the evening I would have turned around and watched it again.

I just ordered this T-Shirt the other day

watched the DVD's a few weeks back...was very enjoyable. Finally saw the movie today...and it was good!

Its really too bad that the mainline networks don't give shows these days an entire season or two to get their legs under them before they give the axe.

This show had 5 seasons minimum in it.

Got hold of the series during last week. Watched them all. All I can say is fantastic!

It's interesting though, they were saying on some of the documentaries that they hoped that a feature film would spur on cause for a new series. It would be great if they continued it from the last one.

Anyone got a website link for the series?

I like this one http://www.fireflyfans.net/ since fox kicked the show off their main website.

Also only way to watch this show is on DVD since the discs included several episodes that were never aired. Nice!

Just finished the series lastnight. I borrowed the DVDs from a friend. Today, I went out and bought my own copy so I can watch them again. Truly awesome stuff.

I think Joss Whedon has a thing for skinny girls with small breasts and really nice asses. Sara Michelle Gellar would definitely pass for that in Buffy, Amy Acker in Angel, and Summer Glau in Firefly. They made Summer up all sort of plain and crazy looking for the series and I still loved her, but the publicity shots she looks so different.

Just heard that this morning that the Serenity DVD is due out on Dec 20th.

Yes, but Saffron doesn't meet that profile, thank the maker! Hootie hoo, Mal is going to that special hell. That girl was amazingly good at her job.

I don't think THAT is what is going to send Mal to a "Special Hell"... but that episode was a friggin RIOT...

yeha that was an excellent episode. I'm not much of a Red Head lover but she was a hottie. Also in the movie Summer is now 18+ so I can say WOW! more please.

River doesn't do it for me in the least. Saffron was smokin' in every single episode she was in. The most attractive crew-member though, was Kaylee. At least for me. Although Zoe does have her appeals too. Inara was just a little too much.

yeah Kaylee was my secret crush. Inara, I can see why many wouldn't like her but there where a few shots where she wasn't all done up and on those shots you cannot help but drool just a little. EP1 Sponge bath comes to mind (a little to often).

HUH? Morena Baccarin is one of the hottest women on Earth. I can't see why anyone wouldn't like her. Are you just talking about the character? That said I am with Joss. I like the little skinny girls... always have. I think Summer has a vulnerability to her that is so attractive. The fireflyfans site is down right now or I would link to the wall paper I have on my desktop right now, but it shows Summer in an entirely new and different light.

I went through this period where I dated 3 redheads in a row back in the day. It was a very fun part of my life.

I thought Saffron was da schizzle faschizzle though on Firefly, but all the main character women were hot in there own way which I think is part of the genius of Joss. He's able to weave a lot of the character building into the plot of the episodes without taking time out to "set the stage".

Force Rank:

Kaylee
Inara
Zoe
River

I totally agree she is uber freak'n hot. What I was saying is that people often lust after the uber hot Inara types but they really start to "love" (please note the quotes) the characters/people that they can truly relate to, like Kaylee.

Kaylee can be seen as a 'I could get her' girl while Inara remains 'out of reach' for most men.

While we have a nice little discussion about hot girls, and we can all agree that the 4 regulars and his "wife" in those episodes are all hot, I have a theory about beautiful women. A friend and I were talking one day about girls in Playboy and who we liked better. I said when women are that hot, gorgeous enough to be in Playboy, then one can't be hotter than another. It all just comes down to personal preference. Once they get beyond a certain point of beauty they are too beautiful for me to even think straight so I could never decide which is better.

Guess I would be a terrible judge at a Miss America Pageant.

Only if you like girls that are completely anorexic and with barely any feminine features at all. Yuck.

Most centerfold-caliber girls are small, as in short usually, but they are generally smooth, accentuating curves and being hyper-feminine. They aren't bony and sinewy and so extremely hard of body that its gross.

Wow, just say Episode 1. I downloaded it months ago, but never got around to watching it. I just programmed fro 70 hours this week, and needed a break. I was very impressed. Kinda "Space cowboy"ish, but with very good attention to detail and no bullshit physics.

... trying to not watch Episode 2....

... addictive personality interfering with my plans....

This has become my bedtime DVD of choice. I on my 3rd time through the series. Pop one in, crash out, life is good.

BTW. I work with a guy names Jim Utter who did props on the Buffy Series as well as Angel. He is always telling stories about Joss and such. I guess Joss is a really cool guy in person - which I could have guessed.

One of the things that always bothered me about the show was that while it was stylish, it seemed that hand weapons hadn't advanced as much as one would think over 500 years. Have to call shenanigans on that one.

They're definitely there. Check out ep 11 or 12 (the one where his 'wife' reappears) for evidence of old as well as new energy weapons.

The way I always saw that was energy weapons must have been expensive to buy, operate and maintain. The Serenity crew sometimes had a hard time keep their gas tank full, much less dropping a lot of money on some bling phaser.

So tell me, why does a damned good series get reduced to a discussion on how hot the women are?

Bought the DVDs of Firefly on Friday. Been watching through the audio commentaries. The one for "Objects in Space" is rather interesting.

By far my most favourate episode though, is "Shindig". Why, you ask? Well I like the fighting-for-the-lady's-honour thing!
