a few days ago I watched a review for Star Wars Empire at War. It seemed cool and made a mental note to pick it up. While I was in Best Buy today I saw it on the shelf. It looked like a promo package, round, shrink wrapped with a T-Shirt inside. It cost 29.00 bucks. I thought the packaging was odd but it was in the game section so I tossed it in and didnt think about it. On the way home I was going to read the instructions. Opening the package I realized what I'd done. The round CD-ROM sized package was ONLY a T-Shirt and a crappy one at that! No game, no demo no CD at all nothing but a stupid low quality T-Shirt. Returning to Best Buy I returned it and told that that was a deceiving package. They pointed out on the receipt that it said T-Shirt Promo but -no where- on the packaging did it say anything about not having the game included. Damn LucasArts, what are they trying to pull with something like that. 29.95 for a stupid 'Promo' T-Shirt? Give me a freak'n break! |

That is so dumb...who wants a empire at war shirt especially from best buy? meh...i played the demo and its a dumbed down version of Rebellion with a mediocre rock paper sissors system to the extreame....its pretty in space combat but really only in cinematic mode and you cant change the camera angle or anything. LA screwed up again...all they had to do was upgrade Rebellion and you would have had millions of happy star wars and RTS fans |

LucasArts is starting to come off like an aging rocker doing his best to cash in on the one hit he recorded 20 years earlier. |

Kay... that's something LA shouldn't have done. Or atleast bestbuy should place it at the merchendice shelfs. I usuallt don't make such a mistake since I use about ten to twent minutes staring at a gamebox were my mind and heart are fighting for buying or not. But games in Greenland cost approx 50 - 65 US$ so that's why I'm careful... You should get a refund and demand it! If the worker won't give the refund talk to the manager. If you don't get anything by that, go to the newspaper about it. Both about Bestbuy deciving the customers by place such thing among the games and LA for releasing a T-shirt in a game package. |

Ask for the District Managers phone number if they don't give a refund. It's amazing what can happen at that point. |

Agreed, most of the time even going to the manager will prompt a refund. in their minds a small $30 refund is nothing compared to the potential bad things that could otherwise result (future sales, publicity, etc.) |

I got a refund with little problems. Best Buy is pretty good like that. I was just floored that this happened. I even squeezed the package just to feel for the CD ROM and I thought I felt one. T-Shirts are a common add on with games so I really didnt think to much about it. What killed me is no where on the package did it say 'this is not a game'. It was very clearly packaged in a way to be confusing and the price was the rough price of a game. 30 bucks for a crappy, and I mean that itchy cheap-o promo t-shirt crappy, is borderline bait and switch if not clear misleading of a product. My first thought after returning it was the same as Rocklars, the owner of the one trick pony is starting to get nervous. 20 years and you cannot come up with another dynasty product? geez even Disney was able to do that. oh BTW. I not long have plans to buy the game based soley on that experience. |
