Post subject:  Question on using 2 monitors

Do any of you guys know how to set up your PC/Laptop to use 2 different monitors. It seems like I would have expand my screen size and require the extra real-estate.

Essentially, I would like the left monitor to display the left side of the screen and the right monitor to displa ythe right side of the screen.

I have two outputs on my card. In the display settings there are configs for the two monitors. You set standard resolutions for each, set one as the primary, then select "extend my Windows dektop onto this monitor" on the other.

You can also drag and drop the images of the screens to show the layout you want. You can have a double height desktop instead of the double width.

Should work wel with any laptop... I have a flat screen at work, and just plug it into the back of my laptop and "extend desktop" like Obo said. Whenever I plug it in I have 2 big screens, coding on the right, email on the left.

Another trick is to put all your frequently used shortcuts onto the quicklaunch toolbar (drag them on). Then drag the toolbar onto the right side of your normla monitor. This way, when you extend your desktop, you'll have this toolbar with all your programs right in the middle of the extended screens.

I'd prefer just one continuous monitor that did that!

Oh, that's soo cool.

I was just talking to one my visualization colleagues (a Java 3D experts), and we're meeting on doing a virtual reality interface proposal for funding... and this looks like a perfect example. Thanks Obo.
