I f'ed up my Battlefield 2, Disc 1, Installer CD trying to make a copy of it. Hence, I can no longer run the game. ![]() ![]() Not sure what my options are...is it as simple as having someone create a share that I can DL the files? Help. |

lol just made a post about how much I love this game. I would say a non-CD crack may be in order. Or call EA and ask them but doubt they can help much. Once you get it fixed we should play! |

yeah the CD won't load now. every time i click on the exe icon for BF2 it won't work. I tried the no-cd crack...downing loading the daemon tools, blah blah blah, but now i get an error unable to mount image, file not accessible....whatever that means. friggin' EA and their copy protection schemes...annoying!!! |

How the fuck can the computer detect you're trying to copy the game ? And how can it disable the CD ? Is it hardware ? |

Sounds like you might have something like Starforce on your machine. |

yeah, i don't know how i screwed up the disc. all i tried to do was read it. Thanks to folks in this thread and un-named parties who sent me a link I was able to mount a cracked no-cd version, but its the 1.1 version and i had the 1.2 version loaded which is why i don't think its working. 1.2 crack isn't available yet. not sure what starforce is...off to google. |

found a site that listed the companies and games using this copy protection software and BF2 wasn't on it.... unless someone's heard of this happening to others i've got to assume its user error (i was trying to do this on my laptop which has only one drive that does both , DVD RW and CD RW). I should've done it on the main comp as that has two drives and my discs are CD not DVD...oh well. Looks like my options are: 1) wait for the 1.2 crack 2) uninstall and go back to a cracked 1.1 3) buy another copy of the game and make some of the money back by selling the serial number for the new game but keep the discs. |

Have you tried other games on that machine? Once it gets on, it doesn't like to leave. Have a look here to see if you have it or not http://www.glop.org/starforce/detect.php |

Good news on that front at least....don't appear in my non-plug and play drivers. In terms of a potential option 4, assuming its user error, it's not Starforce...can't you just copy the disc like you would normally? |

I'm certainly no expert when it comes to this stuff, but it doesn't make sense that the disk could be messed up. I think I'm just repeating what's already been said, but there's got to be some other program of some sort running that is stopping the game from running. Remember that Sony crap that downloaded itself on people's computer when you played their music CD? I bet it's something similar to that. Bastards. |

Try it on a fresh PC if you can? doesn't make sense that you'd write to a CD to alter the programming. Ifthat works you can always reformat your PC ![]() ![]() |

the twilight zone has been lifted on my house apparently because i went out and bought another copy...then tried the original disc 1 and it works again /shrug gonna use it for a few more days, but sounds like i had drive issues. If anyone wants it, I'll sell it for half price $25. I haven't registered it or used the verification code. |
