I had fun this morning trying to 'break' the mechanics; to many legs, huge legs mixed with tiny ones etc. Got some neat geometry bugs :)

heh, thanks. The chicken is by far my favorite.

I don't know if I "broke" anything with the slug or the design is just that good. The slug as a set of smaller, shorter legs up front, in the middle of the jiggly mass, but the knee up in the body. So when he walks, the skin stretches out along with the knee. It's kind of gross to watch :shock:

Could anyone, make something that looks like a human?
Or a proto Rodian.

Just want to see it pushed to the limit...

Like make a pre-evolution of different creatures from our favorite shows.

(How 'bout a Hutt?)

BTW according to this site you can make your own vehicle designs as well, although they only mention the spaceship, it would be logical that the other vehicles are also customizeable...

Do the options you choose when making your creature's appearance have any link back to their abilities in-game?

Different body parts do have different in game impacts.

Certain feet give +charge, some +dance, etc., weapons/mouths give +attack, and various decorative things (armor plates, whiskers, feelers, etc.) give you +sneak, +charm, +health

When creating a creature you have a certain maximum of DNA points to spend, with each body part/feature costing a certain number of points. So you cannot create a super creature that is perfect at all social/attack/health aspects.

BTW, for those posting creatures here, what kind of overall attributes (ie. attack/social/health) do your posted creatures have?

iirc the first creature I made had roughly 10 in the social/attack areas and I think about 41 health.

Think I had pts left over as I didn't go crazy putting decorative items on. Could also be because the limited trial version features that just didn't jump at me. Though I am going to make a guy with huge sneak ability (grass shoots all over him).

I bought the $10 version.

I created 3 creatures last night. I took pics of one of them thinking I would share it with you guys. However this morning I saw that you guys are directly linking to them from EA's site. I logged in to the EA’s website but there are no creatures for me. I figured I did not mark them to be shared, so I loaded up Creature Creator... the bar on the left side shows 3 creatures made by me, but they do not show up in the inventory. I cant find them, but I know I saved them. What am I doing wrong?

The following are the pics I took. I still want to find out what is wrong with the situation above.

Cyrus, Do your creatures show up in the sporepedia thingy? Near the save button is an export to web button (its also in your sporepedia) Im not sure but i think you also need to create an account to to share online...

If your creatures are still missing drag and drop the png file back in like you would someone elses creation and resave and i think that should work as well...

They show up in the sporepedia right when I create them, but after I restart Spore the My Creatures Count is correct, but none of my creations show up in sporepedia. Only the ones from Maxix show up. I have an account.

I set the game to run on an external hard drive, I am wondering if that is the problem. The program files are on the external drive, but the My Creatures files are under My Documents. The options in game are lacking, I cant find a way to direct it to the correct folders. I am thinking about re-installing to the default directory to see if that fixes the problem.

To fix the problem with the missing creatures, follow these steps to clear out some corrupted cache files that are causing them to not display but show up in the counter:




* 1. Go to the Spore application data directory:
* Vista users: C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\SPORE Creature Creator\
* XP users: C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\SPORE Creature Creator\
* Mac users: Users\\Library\Preferences\SPORE Creature Creator Preferences\p_drive\User\Application Data\SporeCreatureCreator\
* 2. Delete these two files: GraphicsCache.Package and ServerCache.Package
* 3. Run the game. You should see your lost creatures restored in the Sporepedia under “Everything”
* 4. To share them, open them in the editor and make any small change. Save and publish.

Started to make a collection of Avian created critters, via the save files above.

Question though, how do I import your guys' creations into my creature creator? I have saved the .pngs into the My Spore Creations\Creatures folder but they do not appear in game.

NM, they now appear to be imported properly. Not sure why they didn't show up in the "everything" pane in the sporepedia.

I also got a pretty good Tauren. Just need to learn how to link the pngs here to share it as well as my creations.

edit - Tetran - your pngs appear to have not loaded correctly. Odd since I can play with Cyrus' creatures no problem.

Ang... Just make sure to create an account via spore...and then click to upload individual critters...at that point go to spore's web page and click on your page and view your critters...clicking one should bring up an image...right click > properties and copy and paste the img url and tag it with BB code

Mine are image links to the ea.com host, I may have done it differently than Cyrus.

We need to put together a list of our spore contact info, so that we can bump each others creature ratings, and look up each others creature inventory. I wish the spore website had a friends list.

Wierd. My work laptop runs it fine. Well, little slow in the skin rendering but she runs. I was surprised since this thing definitely ain't a gaming laptop.

they need to add total views to your sporepedia...i want to know how many people have looked at my critters

Apperantly if you want to import creatures, you just have to save the little .png file and then open the creaturee creator and drag the file into it.

Update: I'm being told it does in fact work (I guess there's a ton of information embedded into the transparent layers of the .png). You need to either open the Creature Creator in windowed mode, go to create a new creature and then drag the image in, or you may be able to just deposit the image into your My Documents > My Spore Creations > Creatures folder, which is where I pulled the image from to begin with. The first method is confirmed to work, the second is just a guess, I haven't tried it.

I have tried a few times over the past couple days to get various critters uploaded to my Spore site. Something wrong with their server apparently. Will try again tonight after ball. Sad thing is that this Spore Tauren looks better than Violentcow!! :P
