Pretty good. That Tauren looks pretty real, but it's not really in the ballpark of Violentcow or Swift. Sorry. :)

tempting, but I may very well pass on this game. I always knew it would be a play-for-a-few-days-only game for me but now just can't really justify that right now.

If everyones reviews are glowing I may be persuaded.

I'll start to add-in you all to my in-game Buddies content list.

I'm not too crazy how it saves and shares every iteration of your creatures. I'll need to look into that because there's a lot of crap I didn't necessarily want to share or spend any time on creating.

I saw a post on the Spore forums that you can delete a graphics cache file that apparently fixes that problem. Sorry, I am at work and do not have a link for you.

you can get it early via EA...lots of people just brought from EA switch countries to a European/Australia listing in their settings and d/l it before it hit the states

what in particular do you want to see? most the game sites have decent screens - graphics are cartoonish/3D ala any of those movies like shrek, monsters inc, the impossibles...pretty but not like cutting edge...

Never mind...
Besides I can't afford to fownload it since we got volume taxings on the internet connection. The game would cost me about X $ in purchase but the download would 100$...

SO what do you think about the game? I am debating down loading it.

The creature creator would gradually run slower and slower on my work laptop, so I am not sure if I want to DL the game only to find my laptop isn’t strong enough to run it to my satisfaction. However I am looking for some good single player fun so I remain tempted.

I think its fun...the creator's are well done (minor things like no wheels avaliable for my aircraft annoy me but meh..)

I think the biggest thing is if your looking for a RTS style game Spore isn't it - it lacks any real depth. Im still not sure if I like it or not...guess I'll just have to keep playing till I decide

It was interesting to see an Epic Cyrock wandering around during my Creature stage!

That would suggest some sort of memory leak to me or that your laptop is running out of HD space or something.

Anyway, I've heard that there have been lots of complaints about the anti-piracy software on the game (must have been fairly major as I read it in a newspaper rather than any sort of games-related media). Any comments on that?

About EA's anti-piracy. I bought the PC version of MassEffect several weeks ago. The game install would hang up on some file. After googleing the problem I found out that many people were having the same problem and it was EA's anti-piracy.

My DVD drive was not compatible with the anti-piracy software EA employs. I don’t remember its name. The work around was to get something like Nero and image the disk to an external drive, then install from there. I ended up returning the game.

I was really pissed; their anti-piracy solution was keeping me from playing legitimately. As a paying customer I felt victimized by EA. If Spore is like MassEffect I’m not buying it unless it is a download.

Many of the complaints about EA's anti-piracy thing were actually posted via the Amazon.com forum/reviews page. I hear that on G4 the other day. Amazon was kinda the unofficial rant and rave (aka bitch at EA) location.

I think it had something to do with you being able to install the software from one CD to a maximum of 3 hard drives. Then, you had to contact EA to get additional licensing or whatever. Funny thing is, that G4 reported that a cracked version, including no CD check, had been hacked even before the official release.

Anti-piracy on discs does not wonk and only victimizes the innocent purchaser. Hope publishers will realize this soon.

max of 3 is also applicable to the online downloaded version fyi...

The reason spore was cracked so soon was people probably d/l the Austrilia release (same as US/UK version) on the 5th and had plenty of time to work on it prior to its main release days...

Buying pretty much anything from EA gives me the willies!! It's always a crap shoot and weather it'll work for me.

But back to Spore itself. Having only briefly messed about with the Space part of the game, I can say I just don't think it really has any depth. It's cute and it's original and my kids love it, but there just isn't enough for me to keep playing.

It is fun to see all the Avian created creatures in there though.

I heard someone say that Spore is like the world's largest kiddie pool; 1000 miles wide and 2 feet deep. After getting to the space stage I agree. There are just too many other great games out there to waste too much time with this game. I might come back to it later, but I doubt it. Too bad there;s no way to rent PC games.

LOL. Agree with you Mads. Other than seeing the creature the Avians have made (MY GAWD YOU ARE ALL TWISTED) there really isn't much to it.

My 10yo daughter thinks it's pretty cool, although everything she makes MUST have polka dots! :)

The real game is Space, and trying to get to the centre of the galaxy. Just spent the last few hours wormhole jumping and blowing up Grox planets!

Space truly is the end-game, but unfortunately isn't what I bought the game for. The whole act of creating your creatures from single cell on up to the space stage seems to be a flash in the pan in the grand scope of things. I didn't want a mediocre space empire building game. I wanted a more creature evolution-centric game. Very disappointed in the tangent it flies off to for the end game content.

I've been without power at home since Sunday now due to Ike tearing through here, and I think the longer I'm without my computers, the less I want to go play more Spore.

I just read on a danish site that EA will change the DRM on Spore.

The changes are that the game can now be installed on five computers simultaniously and that the owners of the games can de-authorize computers themselves...

Now the changes are implemented yet, but they are planned..

of course there might be some misunderstanding trhough translation.

the site is this: http://www.comon.dk/news/ea.aendrer.spo ... 37779.html

just get it through google "translate this site" (copy-paste the url on google search bar and translate it to you preferred language) and you'll get a rough and grammarerror filed site, bvut still understandable...

can anyone comfirm this on another source?

its everywhere just search EA to change SPore DRM on google...

They are also allowing multiple accounts per copy of the game to allow families to have ind accounts

Just for confirmation.... The anti-piracy measures from EA do not work. :P My review of Spore will be coming as soon as I feel I have a good feel for it.

no... unfortunately not. I can't share creations with you guys I guess. Played up through the civilization level so far, and the impression is... it's an ok game. A bit disappointing really, given the hype. It's pretty creative. Lots of stuff to chuckle at and things that make you go "oh wow.. that's neat." and then sigh and go on with the game.
