Any American, Canadian or British soldiers among us who could help me in contact with a recruiter so I can ask some questions? I'm still thinking about military service and during my six week in USA I was told that foreighners could join, but never got it confirmed and I liked USA. Could I get some help in form of phone numbers or e-mail adresses? |

Go Airforce I would not go for the Army or the Marines and well the Navy does not count. |

No mention of the Merchant Marines? The often unknown 5th branch. |

Thx for the advices but I'm going for the army for starters, but I was actually asking for someone I could talk to by e-mail or phone. Now I did some research on go-army.com and chatted with a recruiter. Was told I need a greencard before I can apply. So right now I'll try to contact the american embassy in Denmark to help me out. But any advice or help of how I should procedd is very welcome. |

![]() ctually, the Coast Guards are part of the department of Transportation and only come under the military in times of war. ![]() Though, the same may be true for the MMs as well ![]() |

While I would love to visit one day....unfortunately no. I've been to practically every other western european country but I have a poor showing for the northern european ones. I haven't been to Denmark, Finland, or Norway...I've been to Sweden though. |

They got some special status during the WWII because the death rate was as high or higher than even the Marine Corps. Being a member of the merchant marine now just means having a job at sea in a private company or with the U.S. government. It doesn't come with any "fast track" to get citizenship so if that is what you are interested in join the Navy or Airforce... they're currently far safer than the Army. |
