Post subject: | Computer DVD Sound Problem |
I have this problem with my computer. It wont play any sound from either the DVD player or the DVD burner. I have updated the drivers on both drives and checked hardware connections, my sound comes from the mobo so Im thinking I need to update that but I cant find the correct drivers and I really dont think flashing the BIOS would help. Anyone have any ideas or advice, part of the problem is I cant find realiable mobo driver infomation, I dont know what I have... I used aida32 (googled it) to get this infomation... Is there an audio cable connecting the DVD drive and the sound card/device? |

It appears you have one of the following mobos: K8N Neo4 Platinum K8N Neo4 The MS-7125 part of the number you provided gave me a hit at the MSI website which I visited after getting a number of leads from Google suggesting MSI. Assuming we have identified your motherboard, the audio portion is as follows: Audio • 7.1 channel audio codec RealTek ALC850 - Compliance with AC97 v2.3 Spec. - Meet PC2001 audio performance requirement. This much is common between the two motherboards referenced above. Assuming you're running 2K or XP, this should be the driverset for the audio portion of your board. Hope that helps. **EDIT** If you're not confident this is the motherboard model you have, take a look at this article if you haven't already. |

If you have an old soundcard available to you, I'd suggest you drop that in and ensure that you get sound that way. That would isolate the issue to the motherboard - it's possible there's a hardware issue with the audio portion of the mobo. |
