I figured this would be a good place to ask some questions since many of you sound like your work has taken you many places. I've just been offered a spot on a project that will take me to locations in Europe, Asia, and India for some datacenter work. Given that, I can suspect that these locations are in fairly stable parts of the world but the question of security comes to mind. When you travelled, were you supplied with a security attache for travel from the airport/hotel to the sites? What should I expect as far as provided insurance from the company for health and life? I'm obviously not too concerned about the European locations, but the Asian locations (all depending on where they are as I'm still waiting on an itinerary) do bring some cause for concern, and even the Indian stops. A bunch of western IT workers coming and going from a multinational can be like fish in a barrel for some folks out there.
This is something new to me and I have some rookie concerns obviously. Any insight to your experiences would be appreciated.

Europe's nice and safe (mostly, watch out for football (soccer) hooligans!!). Once you get within the EU, most passport control and security is fairly similar. There's also generally no need for personal security attaches within the EU.

Other than that, I really can't help you! Although, as far as general movement within the countries go, it wouldn't hurt to be aware of some of the local customs (different EU countries have different customs on tipping, for example).
