I think someone may have mentioned this game already but Hero is currently in open beta. The company has one other game also in open beta and apparently they will be free to play even once the game launches, charging only for premium items 'not required to play' the game. How that translates into how gimped your character will be w/o the premium items remains to be seen. I think I'm going to give at least Hero a quick look and will probably check out Legend of Ares as well. |

Liro made it to lvl 0.8 in Hero (on server Dragon 8) and he likely won't go much further. It appears right now that this is little more than a hamster wheel. I'm going to take him to 1 Dan (lvl 1.0) to see what, if anything changes. Basically, you pick one model from a selection of four (two male, two female). The model you choose is also tied to the weapons you will use. At that point, you can hop into game and start killing. Combat itself is very simple...double-click on the bad thing and your char will keep on swinging/kicking/slashing/hacking/poking/throwing/shooting (arrows) until the bad thing stops moving and drops piles of money. After you've done a bit of combat, you finally have access to your first quest - whee! You get little conversational choices that are hardly choices at all. If you get away from the main conversation path, the person you're talking with either plays dumb or gets indignant. Ok, you squeeze the quest details from them and once the quest is complete (so far, very simple quests) you go back to grinding until you get a message that you can go fetch another quest. In the game's favor is the ease of use. It's all pretty simple to use. Also, it's quite fast. It would take me now all of about 20 seconds from logging in to be making things dead. On a scale of one to ten, I'd give this one a four, in no small part due to the fact it costs nothing to play this MMO. |

I'll give it a quick try. It reminds me of Lineage II. (I played the beta there too) |

Yes, Golga. I immediately thought of Lineage II once I got into it. City of Heroes came to mind, too but your character's appearance is nowhere near as customizable. |

Got to .8 also. Smooth fighting animation is probably it's strongest feature. You do next to nothing while you fight however, at least at this level. I did like how you could tilt theview past the horizon, which if I recall you couldn't with LII. Meh, I might also go to Level 1 to see whats there. I forgot your server so I'm Golga on Dragon 1. |

Got to level 1, Dan 1, whatever. Got some skills, got a pet, no big whoop. Not sure if I'll give this another chance. |
