...and am looking for a new game. I'm not teaching this semster, and am taking a break from the PhD. WoW obviously has too much drama. A non-mMO might be best... preferably PC. Any suggestions? |

We could build a Neverwinter Nights world...it's not MMO, but can be a persistent world if someone has a machine they don't mind leaving on. Or Freelancer is always fun...kind of like EVE but water'd down. Plus it's easy to modify the code and there's already a huge amount of modifications done for it. |

Call of Juarez (FPS - Wild West) first real good western game if ur just looking for a quick fix the demo is out and is fun... other then that at the moment I've played a little Ghost Recon Advanced Warfare and all i can say is its pretty hardcore not a relaxing game... |

Call of Juarez *does* look very cool. I'll need to check out the demo - didn't know about that. I really enjoyed Deadwood and when I read CoJ was loosely based on that, I knew I'd have to check it out. |

In the Avian spirit of not going to look it up myself... Is it a MMOFPS like Planetside or a multiplayer game like Battlefield or Battlefront? |

I still find a good round of Rome: Total War or Galciv 2 keeps me entertained when I take a break from EVE. I haven't played much CIV4 since it came out, but that's a possibility as well. |

I fried my graphics card about a week ago. I'm really struggling here. This morning I reinstalled Alpha Centauri. It's the only game I could find that would work. By the time I found THAT one, my hands were shaking so bad I could hardly get the disc in the drive. ![]() |

Yeah, I love Alpha Centauri... for some reason, it won't work on my new processor... I keep getting an error about incompatibilities with AMD. I could always use a different machine, I guess.... but something like AC would be great. Maybe I'll take a look at GalCiv 2. |

let me know what you think...reminds of the days back in the early / mid 90's when I'd sequester myself in my room and play MOO. There are a few patches to download, don't forget those ![]() |

Sweet on the AC patch! I'll try that. Yeah, I was up 'till two last night... taking that "one last turn". Neat on GalCiv, It's a good mix of some AC and CIV ideas. The thing I loved about AC was the damn good story that went along with playing.. and how all the tech played along to that story. The pace/inventions were perfect. |

SMAC is one of my favorite games. It's just too bad the graphics haven't aged well. I still catch myself trying to find the Alien Crossfire expansion for it though. The story, technologies, the ability to fully customize units, and an "alive" landscape make it a good one. |

I've got the AC:AC expansion, though never got it to work. I'll try to get them up and running and make it available if it works. |
